Currently in Dallas. Office is in League City. Looking at League City, Dickinson, Friendswood, Clearlake area to live. Schools would be important. The second office location would be in Sugarland but from my recollection that area has gone down.

Any insight into those cities?

Friendswood is nice, favorable demographics and nice community... feels like a small LA town in many ways... big oak trees, locally owned restaurants, etc.

Sugarland is nice but is WAY overcrowded nowadays just like The Woodlands. Lots of killer Indian restaurants there, that is the area of Houston where they mostly live...and there are lots

Preciate it. I've been to Houston several times but that was just to go to Kemah, Galveston, Astros game, etc.

My biggest thing is safety and good schools. I can drive to entertainment etc.

Sugarland's population has migrated North into Katy. Be aware that if you choose some place in Fort Bend County, there are currently only about four insurance companies that write homeowner's policies, even if you live a mile from I-10. Cross into Austin county, and you have a much larger selection. Fort Bend county is also absolutely notorious for hammering home values to the state mandated max. The assessment district says things like, "market value is not indicative of assessed value," with a straight face. You will end up having to pay a property tax lawyer every year unless you live in a sub 250k home.

I like the Woodlands, but it's a bit culty-feeling and way too far from either of your offices.

Lamar ISD (just west of Katy) is pretty good. Probably a B+ compared to Katy ISD's A-. However, Lamar ISD passes bond issues like I've never seen before, and they are in approximately 10x the amount of debt as the next closest school district. Nobody sees any issues now, but that chicken is going to come home to roost at some point. ETA: Commuting to Sugarland from Katy/Fulshear/Brookshire is pretty easy.

ETA2: Don't forget that we have MUD taxes here, which you almost certainly don't. One side of a road your total tax may be 3.61%, the other side of the road may be 2.75%. Our usage of MUDs also means we have jack shite for sports facilities, unlike the ones that are seemingly scattered all over DFW. But we do have massive cricket complexes.

Avoid Sugarland. League City / Clearlake / Friendswood is the move. Easier commute and a lot more amenities over last few years as growth goes south.

You care to add insurance cost context? The way people complain about it, you'd think it was Louisiana in the "coastal" Houston counties.

No, I am still in the loop. South Houston is likely my burbs exit plan over the next few years.

In the loop, maybe you add a Dora the Explorer warning!

Watching Fort Bend get treated like it's Galveston WRT homeowners insurance is disconcerting (I know a couple of very successful State Farm agents who thank everyone for not shopping their insurance.) I figured it'd be just as bad on the South side.

Friendswood is the clear winner in my opinion. Great schools, big houses, close to shopping and restaurants, close to the water, close to Hobby airport.

That is where I was leaning but the insurance thing is throwing me off now.

If the OP is Asian, Indian, or Paki this is the correct answer. Otherwise Friendswood, Clear Lake, or League City is the answer

Check out Mont Belvieu. Easy access to 99 and the beltway. Great schools, Barbers Hill.

Friendswood. When we moved houses in 2015, I wish we had bought in Friendswood.

If you have to go to Sugarland more than 2 times a week, maybe look Pearland. I live in Pearland and actively recruit against people moving to Pearland. We need less people here.

That's still a long drive. I'd say 30-40 min on wknds. So add work traffic and that would make a long drive.
