Is this for just you and SO, or a couples trip?

If just you and SO, Excellence Playa Mujeres is awesome. We did a couples trip there about 4-5 years ago, and we still had a great time. Only issue was we constantly got in trouble with the staff, because it is for “relaxation and romance” instead of loud and rowdy like our 6 couple crowd was. Like I said, even with being kicked out of a few places and constantly being told to settle down, it was still a great place where we had a ton of fun.

I stayed at this one a few years ago. Laid back and good food.

No matter where you stay, scuba dive. It's still my favorite place to dive. If you don't know how, contact Manta and they will get you certified. I got my advanced certification through them and they are great.

Secrets maroma beach. We have been to many AI and this one has been the best in my opinion. EPM is great but the beach is a little disappointing. I literally just booked excellence Rivera Cancun last night. Curious to see how it stacks up

Best one I've been to has been Live Aqua in Cancun. If cancun is where you want to be this is the spot. Outside of cancun I haven't done much so can't speak to ones outside the hotel zone.

Recently went to Unico. It was solid. We’ve done Excellence Punta Cana before. After this past trip we left saying that we enjoyed Mexico a lot more than the DR, but liked the Excellence resort a little more than Unico.

We've been to Secrets Maroma Beach, TRS Yucatan, TRS Coral, Catalonia and Pueblo Bonito Pacifica in Cabo.

I'd rate them

1A/B Secrets and TRS Yucatan. We've been to this TRS twice. TRS has the best pool (Helios) I've ever been too, a great beach, use of the Grand Palladium resorts on the property and Chic Cabaret (dinner/show) which is top notch. TRS has a great beach that you can go way out at. Good food and a lot of choices if you add in the GP restaurants.
Maroma has the finest beach I've ever been to (probably the best on the peninsula). Great food and exceptional service and entertainment.
With Chic Cabaret being closed for Covid, I'd give Secrets Maroma the edge.
3. TRS Coral. This is the newest TRS in Play Mujeres. Mostly same setup as Yucatan, but more modern. Pool is not out over beach like Yucatan. Beach is beautiful, but you can't walk out as far. Just doesn't have the tropical rain forest charm and vibe of the Yucatan location.

4. Pueblo Bonito Pacifica. Great resort, good food and an amazing golf course. Beach is not swimmable, but is scenic. Only problem with service is you have to sign for everything, food and drinks. Cabo is a great destination if you plan to leave the resort and explore.

5. Catalonia-- nice, but not on same level as the above.

We are going to Secrets Puerto Los Cabos for the first time in the first week of May and are looking forward to it.

The One and Only Palmilla

Expensive, but worth it. Nicest resort I have ever stayed at and incredible service.

Food was great too!

Last time she & I went to an All-Inclusive was about 15 years ago.

El Dorado Royale (Link) it's a bit south of Cancun.

It's still Adults Only, there were some German women doing topless sun bathing while we were there, but it wasn't Hedonism to be sure.

We had a Casita with a private pool.

It was OK, we haven't stayed at any all-inclusives since then.

We had friends recently return from Secrets Play Mujeres and they were blown away. They've done many AI and have this as their #1 bang for buck (really nice that doesn't break the bank). And they are foodies. Supposedly the a la carte restaurants are top notch.

We just booked it for a late June 5 night trip.
