The wife and I are taking our 11 year old daughter to the Elton John concert in January. Any hotel recommendations would be appreciated. Never been to Little Rock before. We like to hit local establishments for food and drink. The girls enjoy shopping local too. Is the rivermarket area the place to be for that sort of thing? Thanks In advance.

yes that area right along the river is where you want to be.
try and find a hotel on the main drag there and all the bars/restaurants/shopping will be walking distance

it’s a cool area I like it alot

The Capitol Hotel is a great historic hotel down there if you’re looking for a cool vibe.

River market and then across the river in the Argenta district are both great (you can catch a trolley across the river). For local and hip shopping, I’d do the Heights and Hillcrest districts.

Capitol Hotel
Double Tree
Marriott

I stay there every 2-3 weeks. All on the river, all within walking distance of everything. I love Little Rock now tbh.

I mostly stay at the DT because of Hilton, but it’s a little outdated. Free cookies and a parking garage under the hotel.

I couldn't justify booking the Capital Hotel for those rates. We stayed at the Mountain View Grand in New Hampshire this summer which is the same kind of hotel so I figured we recently got our fill of it anyways.

Just go have a drink and apps at the capital bar, and you can experience the ambiance without staying there.

Piggy backing on this. I’ll be in Little Rock on a random Thursday and Friday in February. I can catch a ride up there in a friend’s plane and my wife can bring our car up that Friday. Is there enough to do to make a weekend of it? She’d arrive at 5ish on Friday and we’d leave after lunch on Sunday to be home for supper.

Is driving to Hot Springs or NWA worth it during that time of the year?

Horses will be running at Oaklawn in Hot Springs. Fun way to spend a Saturday.

Promenade area in West Little Rock/Chenal is pretty good. West Little Rock is actually awesome and like most similar sized cities, their downtown has been revitalized last 5-10 years.

Highly recommend Local Lime. It's as good of a Cantina/Mexican Joint as I've ever been to. Great margaritas, but certainly a little haul from downtown.

Oaklawn has a full casino now, as well, if you're into that.

I think there's likely enough to do in Little Rock for 3 days, depending on what you're into. Pinnacle Mountain has good hiking/biking. Shopping is decent in the various areas mentioned above. Food/beverage scene is really good (relatively). If you're wanting action packed, non-stop attractions, it will likely be lacking. if you're wanting to chill and eat/drink decent with some good walking/shopping and possibly some outdoor activities, then it's adequate for 3 days.

I believe it was the Capital Hotel that is famous for it's fried chicken. I think it was a special on Wednesday.

Looks like I will be going out there soon. Customer I'm visiting is across the river in Maumelle. Anything I can't miss? We've been to Fayetteville and loved it. Probably be there two days or more.
