I’m going to Snowbird in late April with a couple friends. We got a lodge room for $455 a night that includes lift tickets. Not sure what the conditions will be like but I thought that seemed like a pretty good deal.

They have had 300 inches of snow this year so far, should make for some great spring turns in Utah this year.

Late season trips are actually a fantastic way to save some money and still get great skiing in without the hordes of people clogging the slopes. One of my best days of skiing was in mid-April at Copper Mountain, almost a foot of powder and no lift lines.

Mid-March to Late April (even mid May depending on the resort)

I would say maybe to this. A lot of resorts close in early April. I've skied closing weekend at many different resorts and it is typically very slushy, bad snow and super hot. If you're not local and you are trying to plan a mid Aril ski trip, you are really taking a gamble.

When spring skiing is good it is great, but the minute that soft snow goes to mashed potatoes it's awful.

Also, go to any big resort in Colorado from now til April. Lift ticket prices are going to do nothing but increase. Everywhere is full and getting more crowded every year.

The trick for a spring ski trip is plan it later, lodging is substantially easier and cheaper to find than in prime season...follow opensnow to help find the best conditions. A-Basin, Banff, Bachelor, Tahoe, Mammoth, Winter Park, Copper, Snowbird are all areas you can target.

But I agree, don't plan a trip months ahead of time outside of maybe planning to ski Banff.

In my experience skiing Oregon the same holds true. I think it's because the locals are transitioning to other activities.

Went to bachelor for Easter two years ago, no one was there. Perfect spring snow conditions and that lift to the top of the volcano was open, although it was a sheet of ice up there...

You won't be able to find a pass that will work that early in the year and flow over to the next season. Ikon 2023-2024 season pass will start working around early April for a few select resorts.
