Just how bad is Vueling (European low cost airline)?

Worse than Spirit? I’m looking to book a trip to Spain and it’s just too far to take the train to many of the places I want to visit. Vueling is often times the only airline with reasonable flight times. Their reviews online look terrible, with lots of cancelled flights, misplaced luggage, etc. However, I realize people aren’t as likely to write benign or positive reviews as negative ones.
If not Vueling, are there any other alternatives besides the high speed train and the regular rail? Barcelona to San Sebastián and Granada, in some order, is what I’m looking for.

I flew it from Barcelona to Seville round trip without incident in 2015.

I flew Vueling from FCO (Rome) to JTR (Santorini) nonstop. Zero issues and carry on luggage was free unlike Spirit/Frontier in the states. I didn't know it was a low cost airline until today. I just needed a nonstop flight from Rome and they were the only ones.

Flew them from Prague to Rome without any problems.

Flew it last year from Porto to Barcelona and then a few days later from Barcelona to Amsterdam with no issues. Just make sure you are familiar with their checked baggage fee and carry-on limitations.

It was not bad in the slightest for our flight from Rome to Dubrovnik.

Just used them two different times from Madrid to Barcelona and Barcelona to Marrakech. Nothing bad to report from each. Simple and the prices were very reasonable.

No issues at all last summer from Barcelona to Copenhagen. If you can spring a few bucks for the extra legroom seats, do it.

Thanks for all of the replies. This puts my mind at ease. I was hoping to find an airline that was more like Southwest than like Spirit.
Vueling seems like the only option for flying within the secondary cities of Spain, particularly if you can’t take a 2-3 hour train.
