Invest 99L Monitoring: Flights for Next Week's LSU Game in Wisky

Update: Waiver is up for southwest. Saw the thread on the rant, just in case anyone missed it
Figured I would start a thread on here about the potential tropical storm/ hurricane that may be headed this way. This thread is for anyone that will be flying next week up for the game or any other purpose. If you notice an airline posts a waiver for an area (South Florida this weekend or LA/Houston/Miss next week) please let everyone know here. My advice for this is be flexible. If you see southwest post a waiver for instance, ask if you can leave a day or two earlier to get where you're going. You have the option of asking for nearby airports if they say everything is booked to your destination. Also, think about changing connecting cities (instead of Houston fly through Washington DC on United, instead of Dallas on American go through Charlotte, etc.)
I'm supposed to fly BTR- Dallas - Beijing Friday morning 9/2 so hopefully everything is fine around then. If American posts a waiver I may end up driving to Dallas from here on Monday.
Updated euro forecast below. If this thing ends up keeping an easterly track anyone flying through orlando or tampa on Thursday will want to stay alert.

Tropical Depression in Florida Based on the forecasted tropical weather conditions in Florida, our scheduled service on Wednesday, August 31, through Saturday, September 3, may be disrupted (delayed, diverted, and/or cancelled flights). Customers holding reservations for travel to/from/through the following cities on Wednesday, August 31, through the close of business on Saturday, September 3, are eligible to reschedule their flights in accordance with our accommodation procedures:
Ft. Myers (RSW)
Jacksonville (JAX)
Orlando (MCO)
Panama City Beach (ECP)
Tampa (TPA)

Where do you look for the waiver for Southwest Airlines?

Supposed to fly Nola to Atlanta to Chicago on Wednesday am. frick me.
May have to see if I can get that moved from Atlanta to Detroit to connect to Chicago.
Of course assuming this fricking thing doesn't come straight for Nola in which case I will be cancelling altogether to evacuate with the wife and pets

They'll post it on the main southwest site, usually it's going to be a bright yellow or red box saying "Travel Alert". Also, you could click on this link LINK and keep checking

Being on Delta you've certainly got plenty of options. Basically just get on any Delta plane that's leaving wednesday if we're not evacuating and take it if your flight is cancelled. From Nola they fly to NYC (Laguardia and JFK), Detroit, Salt Lake, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Minneapolis

Thanks, Cuse...we're supposed to fly out of MSY on Delta the morning of 9/1.
We didn't get the insurance (never do), but if all flights out of MSY are cancelled that day, is there any chance of a refund or credit?
I'm prepared to eat the cost, just looking at my options.

Absolutely. They are obligated to give you a refund or get you to your destination. If you're delayed several hours, you can usually send in a request later for some airline credit (won't be much, maybe $50)

Thanks Cuse, your normal great work here.
I've got a CUN trip through HOU coming up Labor Day weekend.
Should be done by then?

Hey soccer
This thing will hopefully be gone and out of the south by friday. I'm guessing your flights will be oversold (assuming saturday or sunday??) from any cancelled flights earlier in the week

That's what I was thinking as well. I'll be good no matter what, I'm not all that excited to be going (familial obligation).
Have fun on your China Adventure, we're spoilt here by your concise and thorough writing and willingness to share.

What are your flights on DL? Airlines don't usually change the schedule a week out unless something major happens. Did you switch from Atlanta to Detroit?
Posted on 8/24/16 at 1:20 pm to CuseTiger
Flying Delta to Detroit, booked in February and it got changed in May..
Not looking forward to arriving at MSY at 3:50!

Yea I figured that was the case, wanted some clarification before people started freaking out here

Depends. AA always sells a flight from Dulles to Miami at 7:30 AM and every time I've taken the flight in the last two years (which is probably 10 times) the flight has changed back to the old flight time they used to sell which is 6:00 AM.
