We are supposed to be leaving Wednesday for Chicago/Green Bay but this storm may change that. We live one mile inland in Miss. and I'm not leaving until I know for sure we will not be affected.

Leaving out of New Orleans or Miss? If this storm intensifies, it will actually be good for LA as it should push the storm towards Florida. Just keep an eye out over the next 48 hours as that's when it's expected to increase in intensity, I still wouldn't give up on the trip at all

We are leaving out of NO. We are thinking we may postpone leaving until Thursday or Friday.

It will be worse later in the week as that's when the storm will likely make its way towards coastline (in image below). That cone of uncertainty is still rather large

As it looks right now, absolutely. This storm is taking its sweet old time moving across the gulf.

I went ahead and changed my flight to Tuesday night based on your post before the ETA, oh well. Rather make sure I get home than get stuck over there or driving a rental car home 10 hours.

My bad man, the models keep updating and have taken the storm a lot slower than originally forecasted. Estimated landfall was wednesday now it's friday. Someone could make a good amount of $$ if they could accurately model these storms...

How many of you are there? The only options on thursday for southwest for MSY-MKE (as of current) are through dallas at 615am, Atlanta and Tampa at 7:15am (not recommended), Orlando at 8am, and DC at 4:25pm. IF the storm ends up being bad and southwest posts a waiver, you need to be flexible in where you fly to up there. There are plenty of flights that are open up to Chicago which will get you a lot closer than being stuck in Florida.

Surprisingly I think you'll be okay. Very likely will fly straight over the storm on the way to Ft. Lauderdale. It's the people going through tampa and orlando that need to be on alert

BUMP: Waiver is up for southwest. IF you are flying through Orlando or Tampa, try and get rerouted. I'm available to help for the next little bit

It is 5:30 am and I am headed to the airport for this flight. The last correspondence I got from SW was a confirmation on Monday. What does waiver mean? Two people may be hitchhiking this week - me and LF7 if he decides to do the Lambeau Leap.
