I need info on all-inclusive honeymoon locations

Getting married in June 2017 and I feel its never too early to start looking at honeymoon plans.
Looking to spend 7 nights and have a budget of around $5,000 not including airfare.
All inclusive is a must(naturally want to be pampered and not worry about spending money once we get there) but we do not want to spend all 7 days sitting on a beach, Although we do plan to do that a lot. We would like to go to some place where we could also do some serious hiking and other fun things.
Anyone have any advice on where to start looking or packages/places you recommend?

I lived at the Awana Kijal Resort on the East Coast of Malaysia for 3.5 years. It is now the Kijal International Resort. Beautiful Beaches and not crowded. Giant Swimming Pool, Hot Tubs, Spa, Volleyball, Golf, Tennis, etc. A great Breakfast Buffet Free. Everything in walking distance and no need for car unless you go to Mall and you can get a Taxi. I would highly recommend and I want to go back and actually I would like to live there again!!!!

Went to Occidental Papagayo on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. All inclusive and there are plenty of excursions you can do from there. We went snorkeling, horse back riding to zip line, jungle river cruise and a lunch in a local town. The resort was great as well. Food was pretty good and drinks were all made very well. Wife did the spa twice and I fished twice as well.
All in for seven days with the upgraded honeymoon package was right around $4,000 and we spent another $1,500 or so on excursions. Costa Rica is an amazing place.

I'm going to Excellence Playa Mujeres in a couple of months. It was ranked #3 Globally for all inclusives by TripAdvisor. I booked 6 nights with the Excellence Club (upgraded package) with a beachfront view for a little over 3k.

I don't have a ton of experience with all inclusives, but I have friends who have gone to Punta Cana and Turks and Caicos and they enjoyed both of those places.
I wasn't overly impressed with Cabo San Lucas, but I was pretty young when I went.

Oh man, you're going to love it. My wife and I went there for our honeymoon, and it is absolute paradise!
To the OP, I obviously love any of the Excellence resorts, but Iberostar, Secrets, and Couples are all very good resorts as well. I would suggest Cancun area, DR, St Lucia, or St. Thomas. Of course South Pacific islands are amazing, but they tend to be a lot more pricy.

Tell me more about this please. Did the booking include flights? Who did you book thru?

Do you have a preference on any one of the Excellence resorts over others? I am thinking of going to the one in Punta Cana.

Check Costco Travel as well. They have deeply discounted travel packages. Even if you are not a member, may be worth it to get the $55 membership if you like something. For ex: 6 days at St. Regis Bora Bora in a Superior Overwater Villa is a $4700 per person and a few things are included. This also includes your airfare. Usually this room goes for $1600+ a night. You show up in your own private yacht!
For a non 5 star resort, the Hilton Bora Bora package is only $3700. Tahiti tends to be expensive obviously but they also have other, much cheaper destinations like Fiji, Hawaii etc. Worth a look.

I went to Excellence Playa Mujeres in Cancun, Mexico. We didn't want to spend all day on the airplane. Flew out of Dallas and was on the beach in a matter of hours.
Nicest vaca I've been on.

Pro tip: Bring long pants for dinner as you can only where pants to the nice restaurants.
the restaurants are awesome btw.. get the filet at the French restaurant.

I love Playa Mujeres, but we went almost 4 years ago when it was only Excellence and one other resort. Now they have built several others. It is still nice, but not quite as private. I will say the resort itself is amazing, but the beach is just ok.
The one in Punta Cana is not as nice, but a much nicer beach. They are actually build a new one in PC as well called Excellence El Carmen. It looks like it will be the best one yet, and it's on an extremely nice portion of the beach. I would recommend trying that one out. It opens in September, and we are going next summer for our 5 year anniversary.

Sorry for the delayed response, but I booked through tripadvisor.com, they definitely had the best price out of every major website. Then I kept checking back and the price lowered a couple of weeks later, so I re-booked and saved about 500$. This did not include flights. Flights were about 800$ for both of us total. But we are flying on a holiday weekend and you can probably get much cheaper flights depending on when you go.

We flew Sun Country from DFW to CUN for cheap. First time flying Sun Country, I would use them again. We upgraded to first class because it was cheap to do so and worth it.

Costa Rica is an amazing place.
Stay on the Pacific side, don't get hung up on the all-inclusive component.
If you are staying in Guanacaste (the North Pacific Coast), fly into Liberia airport and you have a short drive to the coast.
If you are staying further South on the Pacific (Quepos/Manuel Antonio), fly into San Jose and take a little flight into Quepos airport from there.

Agreed. Our resort was on Culebra Bay on the Gulf of Papagayo. I think it was less than an hour drive from the airport.

Bump
Really thinking about going here next May for our honeymoon. Can we count on you for a review of this place when you get back? I'm particularly interested in seeing if the Excellece Club is worth it
