I wonder if they meant that it might take off at 8:30 PM...tomorrow; i.e., delayed. Blerrrrg

Bush Airport is planning on resuming flights today at 4 p.m. Here is what you need to know: The Houston Airports plans to resume limited domestic airline passenger service TODAY at 4 p.m. following severe weather caused by Hurricane Harvey. We will attempt to begin a phased return to service, with full service expected by this weekend. Contact your air carrier for specific flight status updates regarding your flight. Only those with a ticket for a confirmed scheduled flight should come to the airport. Many roads around the City of Houston are still unsafe for travel, therefore, we urge all passengers to take their time arriving to the airports and to solidify a safe route to and/or from our facilities.
This is good. From the IAH Facebook page earlier today.

It looks like some flights have indeed arrived. My guess is its to get crew from other hubs down here to help operate flights tomorrow

She was able to check in earlier and has a boarding pass, so I feel like that's a good sign. Right?

Whats weird to me is how her flight is the only one that has tons of seats tomorrow, every other iah-denver flight is booked solid. My guess is they cancelled the flight and reinstated it or they added this as an extra section. Who knows as long as both of you make it there tomorrow

My guess would be an equipment swap to a larger plane, combined with other people already canceling/rescheduling to later dates.

That is really odd. Oh lord. Well we shall see!! I guess only time will tell. I am going to advise her to get to the airport a little earlier than normal just in case.

For my own curiosity, I just went to flightstats and looked at the details for the flight. LINK

This was at 9:58am this morning:
"Estimated Gate Departure Changed To 08/31/17 11:28 AM
Status Changed From Scheduled To Cancelled
Estimated Gate Arrival Changed To 08/31/17 12:53 PM"

Then at 1:48pm it popped back up to scheduled
"Status Changed From Cancelled To Scheduled"

Next two equipment changes from "Actual Equipment Changed From 73G To 738" and back to a 73G and that's where we're at . So it does look like it was indeed cancelled this morning but then they reinstated the flight with multiple plane swaps

Re-booked the Friday at 8

Leonard I think your flight has been cancelled again on united for this friday morning. As of current, the only IAH-ORD flights operating are at 1:35pm and 4:05pm so I don't think your new flight made the cut. United will likely have extra flights over the next few days between IAH and ORD (such as United 2755 IAH-ORD on a 77W tomorrow morning at 11:10am). They have the same flight this morning and hopefully again on Friday, however its just not scheduled as of current. You can get your refund from United and rebook with DL out of San Antonio/Austin or hope they add an extra section later today. It's your call

Rome looks like your friends flight is doing good so far. Overnight the flight filled up to the point that it's "full" and there's 24 people on the standby list. Your flight to DEN looks like it should be fine, plane doing Albany NY - Chicago - Nola - Denver with it on the Albany-ORD leg currently about 10 min early.

ETA: Your flight may be oversold, every seat is taken and its at Y0. Make sure you check in now if you haven't already

Well at this point you're not in a huge rush, just need them to put the refund request in. At least you can get your money back for this now
