From all indications I should be encouraged it is a hub to hub flight, and currently I am holding off on changing flights.

I would stick with your plan, i really think united will do their best to get the hub to hub flights going. You should know by tomorrow or thursday morning if the flight is cancelled

I was on an AA flight at a similar time same exact route, i.e. IAH-ORD and I woke up with an email that it had been cancelled, so I would not bank on this at all.

The only difference is that AA isnt hub to hub on both ends, plus its only a CRJ700 i think for AA on IAH-ORD. Plus his flight is already cancelled so he needs to rebook ASAP

Well crap, I'm glad I double checked this tonight!

Re-booked the Friday at 8, but not too confident on it seeing through, as LSUminati above mentioned. Ready to just take the United refund and book a R/T out of SAT with Delta should they have to cancel again. Thanks again for the quick heads up.

I had booked a flight with United in basic economy from MSY for Friday flying into IAH and returning on Sunday. This was for the game. Is there any chance I could get a refund or do I have to rebook? Any thoughts on this or advice is most appreciated

What time were your flights on friday and sunday? I can see if they were cancelled. If so, you can get a refund. If they havent been cancelled yet, you can rebook for a trip through november 11 or 20 (can't remember, its in the waiver in my OP)

I fly out of MSY at 4:55pm Friday (flight# 1894) and fly back at 6:30pm (flight# 297) Sunday

thank you much for your help

the problem with rebooking is that there's no way I could travel past this weekend. I had to move heaven and earth to even make this trip happen and I won't be able to do the same in the future (definitely not within those dates anyway)

Since your flight isnt cancelled as of current (early wed morning), you'll want to wait until thursday or friday to see if it does indeed get cancelled. Youre in the sit and wait period currently

Pretty high. From what I read united plans on the hub to hub routes on friday, they just haven't cancelled the minor routes yet like IAH-MSY. Your inbound on friday is supposed to fly IAH-MSY then back MSY-IAH so i highly doubt it operates. United would rather work on getting crew in from other hubs like ORD, IAD, DEN, LAX, and SFO. Even if it does operate, you may be able to call into united and say you can't get to where you need to in IAH because your hotel or friends house is flooded. They may take sympathy, I'd call during daytime hours to get a not-so-tired agent

What's weird is the inbound aircraft as of current says its coming in from Laguardia as UAL 1561. The problem is united doesn't fly any flights from Laguardia to Nola nonstop, makes me think something funky is going on. UAL 1561 does LGA-Denver, but Denver to Nola is not on the same plane type that you're scheduled on for Nola-IAH.

I would stay away from beaumont in the routing. She may have to go north, then east then back south and its gonna take an extra hour or two to do that if i had to guess

The guy on the OT was right. She's gonna have to do 249 to 99 to 49 to 190 east
