See if you can change the ticket online to an itinerary with a longer layover without it charging you a fare difference. If it does want to charge you, you'll need to call in and have them manually change it. But you will not have to pay for a longer layover this trip

Wondering when IAH will be opening again. I actually am supposed to fly out to Chicago this Friday around 8:00 AM
.

Have a family wedding in Denver over the Labor Day weekend.
Right now on a direct flight, MSY to DEN, Southwest flight #5763 on Wednesday evening at 7:35pm.
Thinking that will be after the fact for the weather here in NOLA but worried still.
Any thoughts/feedback?
Thanks.

On a flight to MSY from ATL on Friday Sept. 1 at 4:20 PM ET scheduled to arrive in New Orleans at 4:55 PM CT. I received an alert late last night about a waiver being issued for my flight. Any advice on what to do to make sure I get to MSY Friday night? I'm hoping they are just taking precautions and the weather isn't as bad Friday afternoon.

Thursday noon supposedly. You could just call united and have them fly you sfo to ord instead of going home?

You are talking about this wednesday night (tomorrow) correct? I would keep an eye out for a potential cancellation, but theres not much else you can do in the meantime.

Friday is supposed to be okay in the area, maybe some lingering rain but nothing as bad as today through thursday. If you see it cancelled, delta or southwest have a ton of flights from atl-msy daily.

Well AA cancelled my flight and rescheduled me to Sunday
. Guess I'm going to have to get on the phones again.

I thought you were doing SFO-MSY on United?? Where are you and where do you need to be? I can help find alternative arrangements

If you look, southwest flew their remaining 10 planes that were at Hobby out yesterday LINK. What this means is that there are currently no aircraft at HOU for flights and everything will have to fly in and back out, meaning they're not anticipating any flights there soon...

Cancelled my flight from atl-hou on Friday and they waived the cancellation fee and provided a voucher for the original price. Told me I could book a flight without having to pay the fare difference up until 9/20 after that I will have to pay the difference. Delta FWIW.

I am currently in the BR area and was waiting for a good time to drive back to Houston. This was for a different flight/trip to Chicago. Sorry, just saw this. I was able to get AA to put me on a flight to O'Hare from New Orleans around the same time Friday.

That was nice of them, they weren't required to do that but at least now you have a voucher to use. Might as well book a weekend getaway with it

Ah that makes more sense, thought you were still out in California somewhere

You plan on getting on a flight ATL to MSY?

Shoot. Would Love Field be her best option?

I'd say either austin, san antonio, nola or Love depending on which side of the city she is on/can get out of
There's 5 flights to Denver from Austin on Thursday, see if she can make her way over there. Two flights (real early and real late) from San Antonio

Okay thanks. She's also going to call Southwest to see if they have any intel or advice. She says she'd rather fly out of Houston Friday than get on the roads Thursday and be stuck in traffic to get to another airport.
Posted on 8/29/17 at 12:27 pm to When in Rome
I don't think HOU will even be open by friday, there's just too many closed roads and flooding in the area. Also from southwest's site. Your friend unfortunately may just want to cancel her trip and get a refund...

My IAH to Istanbul on Thursday 20:55 hasn't been cancelled and is therefore not eligible for changes per Turkish Airlines.
They said to call back tomorrow. Going to be a last minute ordeal the way it's looking now.

You're gonna be in for a long night at the airport thursday. Airport is supposed to reopen at noon thursday and United has been able to get some flights in and out over the past few days to Chicago. Since Turkish is a star alliance partner, they should be able to put you on United if the flight ends up being cancelled. What you will want to look for are repositioning flights that show up early in the morning such as this one today LINK. Your best bet will be IAH-ORD, IAH-EWR, or IAH-IAD before heading to europe
ETA: Found this on turkish site
quote:
As a result of the tropical storm taking place in Houston, USA, all transport to the city airport has been shut down, and the airport has been closed to all flights. Flight TK 33 due to fly on August 28 from Istanbul to Houston and the return flight, TK 34, from Houston to Istanbul due to be operated on August 28 has been cancelled.
My guess is you will see tomorrow if it's cancelled. If it is, rebooked on United through a hub
