For people in South Louisiana and most of MS and AL, GS/OB is still fun and a good value 8 months of the year. But from the middle of May through Labor Day the cost generally outweigh its value these days.

You are right about the travel time to those places, but once you are there you have way more options of things to do and infinitely better excursion activities (not even talking about scuba since I don't do that). Also you can do an AI and have all the food/drink you want, or on the other end there are awesome restaurants that are easier to go to as opposed to going to places on the Gulf Coast during the busy season. We've even rented houses with private chiefs for 2 awesome meals a day for 4 days for the cost of 1 dinner out at the beach in the states.

We are going to The Dominican republic in mid June. I honestly think for a five night trip it’s going to be cheaper than going to Perdido.

No shite. We ended up going to the Virgin Islands last summer cause it was cheaper than going to the Gulf Coast for a week.

What is there to do the other 8 months of the year? I get maybe early May and later in September you can still swim.

What is there to do the rest of the year? When it's too cold to swim?

Golf. Shop. Music at The Wharf. Fish. Enjoy the beach with less people.

The gulf is really swimmable in the low 80s and upper 70s till like November.

All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I’m fine.

Since you wanna call ppl liars. And gulf shores should be cheaper. It sucks there and it’s in Alabama.

No, lol, you actually are an idiot like I said. You posted in a thread about summer vacations a trip to Europe for New Years…. But you do you.

You realize that summer vacations domestically and winter vacations are different right?

ETA: the point was you came in and acted like people could go to Europe summer of 2022 right now for $3200 for 8 days. Most flights for June and July to Paris and London right now are $1200-$1400/ each right now. Hotels are $500+ for anything decent. No one has been to Europe in 2-3 years and it’s going to be a busy summer there.

I never once said anything about it having to be a summer trip to London/Paris. I was just shocked that a trip to raggedy arse gulf shores would cost that much more than what I had just recently booked. I’m well aware that a trip to london/Paris for summer would cost more. I get your confusion to my post but you’re def the idiot here… and an a-hole to boot.

Also , if you’re stuck on thinking the outrageous Gulf Shores prices are on par with everywhere else for summer trips I can also show where we’ve got a coastal Maine/cape cod trip booked in three weeks that includes flights (for 3), rental cars, Airbnb/vrbo(9 nights) and is still quite a bit cheaper than that.

it was roughly $4400 with taxes and fees for end of July going into August.

I couldn't imagine spending that kind of money to go to Gulf Shores. There's so many better options for that kind of money.
