My cousin who started in July is hiking it in segments, and taking breaks between them. I think he made it from Maine to Massachusetts in his first segment. He met some cult that tried to recruit him along the way

You can always try again. I will gladly give you assistance through the GA/NC/TN parts if you need it.

This is why I carry on the trail. It’s not for the animals.

The Yellow Deli in Vermont on the AT has the reputation for being the front for a cult.

Been seeing a lot of Katahdin photos posted. Been doing any hiking? I’m on the Alaska coast in a remote cabin for a few weeks and have been walking the beach every afternoon. Several brown bears but they just ease on by and don’t pay much attention to me. Should have some negative tides the next 3-4 days so I’m going to try and get some razor clams.

Twelve Tribes were notorious for recruiting/brainwashing in the parking lots of Grateful Dead shows back in the 80s/90s. Combine cult tactics with wayward souls and it was a shitshow of coercion

I know quite a few people that were taken in by these people.
it’s a straight up religious cult
