Gulf Beach Trip - June (grass) Question

Never heard it called June grass before. I guess it’s most prevalent in summer so it makes sense. South Florida it is called sargassum.

We’ve had a place on the coast since the early 90s and I’ve never heard the term June grass.

Appreciate it! If you have any suggestions on a family of four (two young ones) where it's kid-friendly, I'll take em. I was sold on Navarre last year when someone said it was family friendly and not crowded, but interested in trying out another beach.

if you're looking for low key areas then Navarre beach, Pensacola beach, Perdido key, Orange beach. There are plenty of hotels inland at Pcola beach for a lot cheaper and easy access to beaches. I live 10 miles from Pcola beach and it usually takes about 20-30 minutes to beaches traffic dependent. Many hotels closer to coast with easy access to downtown and good restaurants. Perdido Key and Navarre are even more laid back than Pcola but restaurant options are limited. Once you pass Navarre going east the crowds and traffic are horrendous during the summer. Where ever you go there are miles of pristine beaches and plenty of free public access.

I have no idea what I’m talking about but….. we go every year for the Blue Angels. Weekend after the fourth. It’s hot or miss with the grass.
All I have seen this year is it’s supposed to be the worst ever. Ruins it for me when there is a ton of grass.
I not taking any chances this year. Headed to Cabo.

I hate hate hate any type of seaweed and will pay more to avoid it.

My buddy said it was bad in 30a last time they went. I’m not going back to Cancun or Playa anymore because of it. Have to get a beach that faces west or north to truly avoid it.
