I have a work meeting on Monday, Nov. 11 in SLC and my son has been on my case about tagging along on one of my work trips.

So, we are heading out on Friday, Nov. 8. We'll be there Saturday and Sunday with a completely open agenda.

He loves the snow, etc., but it's too early to ski. What else could we do to have fun? I am staying in Downtown SLC, but I don't mind driving up to Park City, Deer Valley, etc. for some activities.

Also, if there is any fun, indoor stuff that a 12 year old might enjoy, please throw them out there.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

I would go to park city. A 12 year old should be fine snowboarding if you want to try that. I think there is a place where you can tube down a hill. I lived there about 15 years ago, but so I trying to remember. You can always ask the locals when you get there, very friendly people. You can drive to antelope island to see bison roaming around.

Curling class at the Olympic oval. Organ recital at the Tabernacle (it’s short and like something out of the Wizard of Oz). As someone else said, Park City.

Eat at Beto’s. Good Mexican food with good portions and good prices. It’s nothing fancy, but it was our go to when we had an appetite. Hill AFB has an Air Force museum, temple square is a nice place to check out.

Where are you from. Antelope island is close and it has bison, big horn sheep etc if he has never seen any.

Drive to Park City and walk Main St. Some cool things to do even for 12 year olds; the photography galleries are ridiculously awesome, and there's a good shot a 12 year old would enjoy.

The Natural History Museum of Utah is a blast if he likes learning/reading.

Antelope Island to check out some wildlife.

They have a cool sledding place just before you get to Park City if they have snow. It’s a blast .

It's not related to SLC, but Brian Regan (comedian) is there Saturday November 9th (Jon M Huntsman Center). Check him out on YouTube if you're not familiar.

You missed the bison round up, but the auction is that weekend:

Review of the Auction

Details from the Park Website

Utah University has a bye week Nov 9th or I'd recommend it.

Park City is pretty cool. It's a small downtown with a little strip with shops and great views of the mountains. The drive up and back will blow a kid's mind if he's never been in the mountains before. I'd recommend the tram ride up the mountain at Snowbird, but it appears to be closed.

The Utah Jazz are at home on the 8th. My wife and kids enjoyed that the last time we were there.

Utah and Salt Lake are awesome for outdoors people. It's also a great food city (way better than you'd think). Yall have fun.

Closed for scheduled Tram maintenance until Nov. 9

I don't know if this means it will be open Nov 9th or not, but if it is, there are some great views from there. Perhaps a hike if they let you.

Utah has some beautiful state parks if he likes hiking. Bryce Canyon is a 3-4 hour drive but one of the most gorgeous landscapes I’ve seen. May be something similar a little closer .

In Utah, he’s old enough to find a few wives now.
