Do you have a connection?

If no connection, you can expect delays and paying for everything.

If you have a connection, prepare for it to be canceled.

Flown it once. It was the same as any other airline. They nickel and dime you to death, but if you've priced that in and are expecting it, it's fine.

Flip flops, t-shirts/wife beaters, pajamas, body odor, and general sense of depression.

Only thing I really hate about Spirit is they don't fly to smaller markets, and that keeps prices up. I really miss Airtran, and wish Southwest had never gone into Hartsfield and merged.

It's not that bad. Just know everything ahead of time. Familiarize yourself with the carry-on rules. They will pop you $100 if you show up at the gate with a carry-on that does not meet the requirements.

I've heard a lot about cancellations and delays, but I've never experienced any.

Don't freak out if ticket counter is empty 5 minutes before flight departs.

Use bathroom before flight

Don't worry about loud noises and/or rattling/shaking

You'll be fine

What is this board's experience with Spirit? I suppose it's more exception to the rule, but I've been around as many normal/weirdos as any other airline I've taken. The base fare is affordable, seats are less than $10, you get a personal item on board (i.e. backpack) and carry-on / checked luggage is $36-$40.

Maybe my experience isn't as bad because I'll take Spirit from Chicago to Minneapolis, which is less than an hour flight.

Never flown them personally, but a fried had his flight cancelled 4 hours before scheduled departure and they made no effort to re-book him on another flight. He re-booked himself on a different airline, and then it took him several calls to get a refund.

I have between 10-15 flights with Spirit and never a bad experience. I've never had a delay or a surprise. I've always known they nickle and dime you (other airlines are doing this as well) so I've always carried light. Mainly just a personal bag since I'm only using them for a weekend trip to Dallas or Houston.

Expect a heavy dose of "LAWD JESUS IN HEAVEN" at the first sign of turbulence.

just wear headphones to not hear anything. it's honestly not bad. the only thing i hated was not being able to use a mobile app for the boarding pass but they have kiosks to print them out at no charge.

it's really not that bad

Flew round trip Nola to Vegas on spirit. For the price, I have no complaints. It's definitely not luxury by any means though.
