(Decatur, Candler Park, Inman Park, Midtown in general, Va Highland, Old Fourth Ward) are great for eating and shopping and pretty walkable. You'll have to drive to get there(or uber).
Can Marta to a lot of these as well

Do you have any hotel info? I edited my OP to include the concert venue area I'd prefer to stay near.
I've stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn near the Tabernacle. It was fine. A 2-3 block walk to the Tabernacle, through Centennial Park if I remember right. Every major chain has a hotel in that immediate area at many price points. I don't really care for that area for dining and whatnot though. I'd look to stay in Midtown near a MARTA station. The Peachtree Center Marta station is a few blocks from the Tabernacle.

we love foreign cuisine
The Mall at Peachtree Center is a below ground shopping center that has plenty of dining options. Aside from the corporate fast food places like Chick-fil-A, Dairy Queen, & Firehouse Subs, you can find one-off ethnic cuisines such as, Aviva by Kameel, Bull Golgi, Beni's Cubano, BEP!, Taste of India, Yami Yami, and Noodle Cafe.
It's a very casual spot that gets busy during peak lunch hours due to its proximity to large office buildings. I think most places in the mall shut down after lunch.
Alma Concina (temporarily closed) in the lobby of 191 Peachtree Tower is a cool Nuevo Mexican concept that serves great food and has an extensive agave list. Hopefully it will reopen by April.
Meehan's Public House is great for a late night drink and Irish pub favorites.
Red Phone Booth is a cool Speakeasy that's great for a date night if you're into cocktails and snacking (and cigars!).
Safe travels!

avoid downtown for sure .... rather soulless. Tabernacle is a great venue though.
I would look in to staying at the Clairmont ... Rooms are small, but more interesting part of town and a 10 minute ride share.
Buford is great if you have time and know what you are looking for. For an easy asian fix head over to Food Terminal.

Its funny how times change, was once a heroin den...
Clairmont Lounge underneath is where strippers go to die, but an Atlanta institution. Been on a bunch of TV/Travel series

We decided on staying at the Glen Hotel.
Hitting Marcel for the beef welly and an after-dinner cigar. Going to take in the skyline on the SkyView after.
Lunch the next day at Jai Ho at Krog Street Market, followed by a show at the Tabernacle that now.
How are we doing so far?

If for whatever reason marcel doesn't work out, Petite Violette is a french restraurant on clairmont rd tht has a good beef wellington. I'm not much of a cuisine guy but my wife and I have always really liked P.V. and it is apparently pretty good as far as french restaurants go, I hear.
and I like Krog St. Martket a shitton more than ponce city market, so good call there.

All good choices and relatively close to each other in town.
Tabernacle is a great venue BTW and you also mentioned another concert in L5P. Which venue?

The Glenn has an awesome rooftop bar.

Ponce City Market, Krog Street Market, Belt Line

We did ponce city and Krog today with our kids and would highly recommend. Both great food halls

Not sure what that’s in reference to.

I think he misread your OP. You said that the concert venue (Tabernacle) is near Five Points downtown.
Atlanta also has an area called Little Five Points (L5P) which for the longest time has been the Height-Ashbury/counter culture center of the area, and also known for some of its music venues.

Yes I was assuming he was referring to the L5P area.
Never heard of the area around the Tabernacle referred to as 5 points.
