First time visiting Atlanta April 1: Things to do and places to stay?

Wife and I will be going to a concert at The Tabernacle. Suggestions on a place to stay? Also, what are some cool things to do/see? Better to park the car at the hotel and travel around another way, or is the city pretty drivable?
We may stay overnight or for several days depending on your recommendations.
ETA: Looks like the concert venue is in the "Five Points" area, so a hotel close to that would be ideal.

That time of year the weather should be great.
I would definitely go out to Stone Mountain and hike to the top. Really pretty up there with great views.
College Football Hall of Fame is good if you like that sort of thing.
Some people like the World of Coke, some people think it’s lame.
The aquarium is world class.
If you like history, the Atlanta history museum is good.
I would not bother eating a meal at the Peachtree Plaza restaurant but going up to the top and having a drink is cool. Great view.
Getting a hot dog at the Varsity is a hokey thing to do but I like it. Get a fried pie too.
Tons of food options. Check back with what you might be looking for for food.
Not sure when the opening day of baseball is but a Braves game would be fun. The park is great and the area around there, The Battery, is fantastic.
I’d just drive places unless they are close to your location. It’s pretty spread out. Traffic will be bad on the interstates. Almost guaranteed.

We stayed at the Aloft Downtown for the SEC Championship and CFP semifinal games in 2019. Good experiences both times.
It had on-site self parking (I *think* it was free) that put us in walking distance of everything we were doing those weekends -- stadium/convention center, CFB HOF, Coke Museum, Aquarium, etc. The car just stayed parked the whole time we were there. Never even had to take an Uber.
There is MARTA (metro system) to look into if you're going further out.

IMO, the CF HOF only really appeals to kids ages 5ish-13. Its pretty lame outside of that. Especially when you factor in its $18-$25 a ticket
all your other suggestions are great.
Ill add Ponce City Market, Krog Street Market, Belt Line, Piedmont Park, Botanical Gardens, Little 5 Points, Decatur, maybe Fernbank Museum(Depending on how you can handle a lot of kids)

Don't know if they still sell the city pass which gets you discounts to attractions around the city but if they do jump on it. We went to Coke cola tour, zoo, Botanical gardens, and a museum which had dinosaur bones in it. Well worth it. Also dont miss the Atlanta Aquarium top notch. Lots of people dont like atlanta but I love it. Also check out the college football hall of fame.

Food-wise, we love foreign cuisine. However, if there's a can't-miss local staple, we'd definitely be open to that.
Do you have any hotel info? I edited my OP to include the concert venue area I'd prefer to stay near.

Foreign cuisine is a loose term here in ATL. We have it all
As far as beef Wellington marcel has it but I was not a fan of the restaurant. Although I did not have the Wellington

We went for the first time for peach bowl in 2019 and enjoyed the aquarium.
The pizza from Antico was good I think they have an actual oven from Italy.
Also a Chinese place called Hsu’s downtown had some really good walnut shrimp.
We drove around the suburbs for a couple hours and saw a few of the filming sites for Stranger Things. If you’re into that show. The wheeler house is in greenbriar subdivision

These are good suggestions. Some of the neighborhoods(Decatur, Candler Park, Inman Park, Midtown in general, Va Highland, Old Fourth Ward) are great for eating and shopping and pretty walkable. You'll have to drive to get there(or uber).
Honestly, you may have great weather and can pick up food and have a picnic in Piedmont Park and just enjoy yourselves there for half an afternoon.
Downtown is a relatively sterile touristy area where nobody really lives. There are some good things there - aquarium, Civil Rights Museum. MLK birthplace and national monument is not far - that's really 04W/Inman Park area. World of Coke is meh and I saw that as a Coke employee.
Another idea is to walk through Oakland Cemetery on the edge of Cabbagetown. Really cool historic cemetery in Atlanta. Bobbie Jones grave is there. Margaret Mitchell.
