The rebook bug just got me. Was supposed to leave at 1245 SHV-ATL-CMH arrive at 700pm. Now leaving at 5pm and arriving at 1215am. I have zero confidence in actually getting out today.
So far looking okay today. Your plane is doing Ft Wayne to ATL to SHV to ATL. Ft Wayne to ATL delayed an hr but it's got about 50 minutes to turn in ATL for your inbound flight which should be enough. Delta did cancel an earlier ATL-CMH flight so your flight is likely going to be sold out tonight especially if people miss that earlier flight. I'm curious, can you go standby on the 810pm to columbus? Assuming you get to ATL on time, would be a decent option getting in at 942pm instead of midnight. I wouldn't go confirmed in case there's issues that pop up at ATL over the next few hours (keep the longer layover), but standby if you don't make that connection then you still keep your later flight. Just a suggestion

Yesterday PM was a total mess. I can’t get out any earlier today. I will likely be in ATL at the same time you are. Not overly excited.
So far so good at ATL today compared to yesterday

Anyone who books a flight after late morning currently is just playing russian roulette... The morning flights are gonna get out, but after first connections, its going to start backing up quick.
Absolutely agree. I just had my dad rebook a thanksgiving trip from EWR to Florida to the first flights out of the day. Newark's been a mess but the first flights are getting to/from EWR

Actually the early flights out of MSY to ATL today were cancelled because the jets didn’t get there last night.

I’m here now. And my second leg is delayed a couple of hours. I went from arriving at 7pm, to 1215am, to 130am. To be at an 8am client meeting.

Wish I would have seen this before now. But I don’t think we would have made it. We had a 25 minute ground delay waiting on a gate when we landed and no way am I sprinting through this mess.
I’ll say this much, I have yet to see one passenger in this airport with a smile.

Shutdown should end by tomorrow. Praying this fixes everything soon!

No worries. Go grab some dinner and relax while you wait on your delayed inbound from Chicago to make it there

I don't usually see happy people in ATL so nothing new

The last thing I read from the FAA said it will still take time to get everyone back to the control towers/work. So even if the govt isn't shutdown tomorrow, there will likely be lingering effects over the next few days/weeks. I hope the issues go away ASAP

Currently doing just that in the A terminal. And they just changed gates on me. I’m gonna sit my arse right here until 15 minutes before boarding and I see that Chicago flight almost here or here. I’ve played gate merry go round before.
ETA: so here’s a question. When I booked, I booked and paid for Comfort +. Now the have me in a middle seat so far back it’s behind the wings. Can’t even get an exit row. Do I have any recourse to ask for compensation since I’m not getting what I paid for?

Yes, I'd deal with it once you're done with the trip

Another delay to 12:15am and gate change
At this point I’m going to have time to shower and go to breakfast

I wouldn't even plan on 1215am honestly. The plane in Chicago is going to have to de-ice tonight, still snowing there. Add an hr to the estimated departure time from there.
1 hr 40 min flight in the air plus another hour for deicing and taxiing. So if it leaves the gate in 5 minutes, it could take off by say 930pm central. Probably going to land at 1215am, leave Atlanta around 115am would be my guess
How desperate are you to get to Ohio tonight? You could switch to fly to Cincinnati. Flight leaves in an hr

Crud just seeing this. I should have checked to see if you have/need skyclub access. Darn it my bad.

Not that critical. Meeting can always be pushed. Worst case scenario I’ll get a hotel here and fly out in the morning. It’s all on the company dime, so I’m pretty chill about it all. Nothing not being chill will do to change anything. And definitely not the gate agent’s fault. They take enough abuse from the idiots.
ETA: well I’ll be damned. The ORD flight is actually taxiing.
ETA2: well shite. That area on the west side of the airport is the deicing area, isn’t it? The one with 40 other planes waiting?

Yeah your plane is over in the de-icing area. The worst part is it left the gate about 5 minutes after the 8pm ORD-ATL flight so it's stuck in line behind that one de-icing. Sometimes it's just not your night...

I'm supposed to fly AUS-MSY for the Arkansas game next weekend and booked a super late flight on Thursday night. I'm hoping that one gets cancelled so I can rebook to the earlier option.
Southwest has extended their travel waiver through 11/13, so I was able to move this to an earlier flight.

Updated departure time is 200am. Plane is halfway here.
The only cherry on top of this day will be if the crew times out when they get here.

All clear as of this morning for me. My plane is inbound from Baltimore and arriving ahead of schedule.
Good luck to those traveling today.

Monday, still no end to this. CuseTiger what do you think... keep a flight I have to IAD tomorrow (from MSY) or throw the towel in?

This is what I was curious about, how long the effects of this are going to be. They have to get things under control by the Thanksgiving rush
