We have a family ski trip and are looking to rent a car. Some car rental companies are located separately from airport requiring a shuttle ride. How inconvenient is this? Or would u pay extra to have the rental company attached to the airport

Yeah for Denver I'm pretty sure all rental cars are located off-site. You need to take a bus to get to them so it may be easier to have you go get the rental while the family waits on the bags then pick them up at the terminal.

All rental cars in DEN are offsite, but the shuttles run regularly and I've never had an issue renting from National, Hertz, Avis or Silvercar(closed) there

Check out Turo. Shuttle ride to lot is a non-issue

All off site but plenty of shuttles. Check the tires before you head out too.

Like others have said, rental cars are off-site in Denver. Busses run pretty regularly and isn't a terribly long ride, maybe 5 min.

Its no MSY, thats for damn sure.

I travel there regularly and never had to wait more than 5 minutes. Enterprise is pretty quick once the bus gets there too

Landing in Denver, getting luggage, getting rental car and driving across Denver and into mountains can take a long time. When you land really matters. Having to do that during a rush hour can be a real problem.

The other issue I’ve had is the shuttle arrives at the rental car place, they have 2 people working the counter and 50 people now in queue all at once.

Why you can’t fill out all rental paperwork online and just get your keys at the counter is a simple change that is needed across the rental car industry.

The one time i rented a car in Denver we waited over an hour

Guess it was just an off day.

There’s a shuttle that’ll take you there.

You have no choice in Denver. All use the shuttle. It is not bad.

Avis, Hertz, National all let you skip the line and go straight to your car. Just make sure you know what category you booked and have your profile filled out and the app on your phone

The Denver Airport site is a very large complex well east of the city. Rental lots are all located on roads within that site. I've been through there 6 or so times. Be prepared for a very long walk from the gate to the exit. Last April the rental desks were closed, and you went directly outside to find/catch the correct shuttle.

At the Enterprise lot nobody was helping until 10 or so people lined up (10 min). Then half a dozen agents appeared and got people to their vehicles quickly. Returning, there is a large gas station on site with plenty of pumps.

Colorado Springs is a nice alternate airport.

Our April experience may have been Covid/staffing related.

Mountain Express

Their rates have gone up so much in the last two years it has been cheaper to book a private sprinter van from other services.
