A few pics of Sawmill creek and reservoir this week in Breck. Yes, it was a nice 50 degrees when I made this short hike.

I used Lightroom, it is an Adobe product. Depending on the format of the photo, one can have better success with editing. It is mainly used for color and exposure correction.

Was hoping to get a little help with editing software, but didn’t know where to post. I currently only use the free lightroom CC app on my phone to edit pictures, but would prefer to do this on my laptop if possible. I’m not really interested in doing the $10/month thing that adobe is pushing. I am looking for something that is either free or is a onetime payment to own. I’m just looking to crop and adjust the color, exposure, contrast, etc with my raw shots. Not looking to do anything wild or add people or things to or from pictures. Any advice?

That is what lightroom does, Photoshop handles the cropping aspect of photos for Adobe. Sorry, I don't have any suggestions.

I know that's what it does, I just think $10/month is a bit silly. I'm not subscribing to anything like that. My work laptop has Photoshop express, not sure what that's capable of.

Use Gimp. It's free. You'll need to watch some YouTube videos, though, to understand basics.

I have downloaded gimp and tried it before, it just seemed insanely too complex for what I needed. I simply just straighten, crop, and adjust color and exposure.

do things like iPhoto or something that basic do these simple things?

FastStone Image Viewer 4.6 is free and great for editing. I've used it for years for cropping, sharpening, re-sizing, exposure, contrast, etc.

Checkout ON1 Photo Raw, they just released version 2018.5 and you can get it at the intro price. I haven't looked at the current version, but compared several previous versions with Lightroom. The last was pretty good, but noticeably slower on my laptop and desktop. They claim they have improved speed, so I'll check it out soon or later.
