CPAP on oversea flights

Going overseas for the first time using a CPAP machine. On previous flights I didn’t notice if anyone was using a CPAP machine. I’ve tried to call the airlines but just get put on hold. I’m flying business an I know there are electrical outlets that I could use but, will they let me use my CPAP? Anyone have any information or knowledge of the guidelines?

Sorry no help here, just jumped in to say what a PITA it is to travel with a CPAP. There has to be a decent "mini" battery powered alternative. At one time there was talk about to little "buds" that you put in your nose but can't remember if that was a legit thing or an idea somebody was looking to get investors.

I don't use a CPAP but if you are sleeping sitting up, do you need the machine? I was the under the impression that apnea was made worse by relaxed muscles in the throat and mouth when laying down....

A nebulizer, CPAP, BiPAP and APAP must be removed from its carrying case and undergo X-ray screening. Facemasks and tubing may remain in the case. You may provide a clear plastic bag to place the device through the X-ray.

I haven't had to remove my CPAP from it's small carrying case on any of my most recent flights.
As to using it on the plane, I don't see why you couldn't, but I might be missing something.

Don't want this to be the OT, but if you cant go 1 day without a CPAP machine. Do you need to be traveling overseas?

Yes. I used mine in June on flight to Italy.

I used mine on my flights back & forth to Spain in July. I use precheck so didn't have to take it out of my carry-on.

I’ve never had to remove cpap from carry case. Fly with it all the time.

Last time I flew ANA airlines, I requested a seat with an electrical outlet for my CPAP. The airline will check if your equipment so make sure you have the original power supply.
