A little atypical, but coming from Pittsburgh airport at night and driving into the tunnel in what feels like the middle of nowhere and popping out of the other side of the tunnel right in the middle of the city is pretty freaking cool, especially the first time.

Not a city, but similar Tunnel experience coming out to great views, would be coming out of the Eisenhower Tunnels, west bound, seeing Summit County Colorado for the first time.

Portland has a similar entrance to the city coming in from the west on Hwy 26. You are in the woods and then all of the sudden you go through a tunnel and the city is right in front of you with Mt Hood as the backdrop. Pretty cool.

Seattle has two really cool ones:

- I-90 west bound across Lake Washington on the floating bridge, then into the Mount Baker Tunnel, and then pop out with the skyline in your face

- Ferry from Bremerton or Bainbridge Island into downtown

Landing at LGA if you're coming from the south or west. Flying over Manhattan is awesome.

I guess you baws have never driven across the twin spans and experienced the great pride of entering orleans parish and witnessing the magisterial new orleans east sign.

I actually always find the view of the city you get coming up over the Highrise out of The East on I10 rather impressive.

I'm sure there are more dramatic introductions but these two have stuck with me

I can't remember the highway but driving up over the mountain from the south and looking down onto Fayetteville was pretty cool. Having never been to Arkansas, I imagined it being kind of a run down college town but it took me by surprise how nice it was.

Another cool introduction was State College, PA. Driving through Amish farms and rolling hills then all of the sudden seeing huge Beaver Stadium standing alone was pretty cool.

Coming into Bend from the East is always a welcome site after 2-3 hours of driving in high desert and going 100+ miles without even seeing a gas station.

I really like flying into Reagan, especially when landing north to south. Coming in for a landing with the monuments on your left and the Pentagon and Arlington cemetery on your right is pretty cool

A little different take, but I'm always surprised at how much SLC is dwarfed by the surrounding mountains.

There's a good one. You also see Mt. Vernon. That's probably south to north approach.

Flying in to the Panama City airport is very cool. I like getting a left side window seat for that. The plane comes in over the ocean from the WSW with a view of the Panama Canal, then the skyscrapers and beaches of Panama City (Panama), then over a marsh to Tocumen. Very scenic landing and great view of the city.

Landing in Cusco is pretty cool as well. Airport is at over 11,000 feet and higher mountains are all around.

I had the opposite feeling driving south over the mountain into Phoenix. It looked like Houston so I wanted to turn around and go back to Sedona and Flagstaff!!

Really? I mean the mountains are cool but the minute you land you just see concrete husks of buildings.

That valley is cool though.

I raise your Panama City flight. It’s the gulf, not the ocean.

Flying into Seattle. Sit on the left side of the plane. Mt. Rainier in all its glory. It is an amazing site to see.
