Are airline tickets expected to decrease anytime soon?

See conflicting stories online. Some are saying that airlines are cutting back on seats due to all the cancellations/delays recently because of being short handed so supply will be limited and prices higher. Others are saying that with inflation, less people have money to spend on travel so demand should be down thus ticket prices should be dropping.

Planning on going to Maui in February and was surprised at how high prices are currently running. Know I’m a ways out but was looking to get an idea of how much they were.

Getting crews is an issue.

More demand is part of it as well.

Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s going to change overnight.

The prices I'm seeing from Delta right now are absolutely absurd. UA isn't much better.

At least you know you’ll get to where you need to with Delta

Planning a European trip next summer and haven't been able to pull the trigger on flights just yet. 2200 per person for premium economy.. brutal

I'm trying to find award availability on AF/KL for June/July and it is a PITA.

No seats because they expect to sell them and capacity is down.

I need Asia to open the frick up so I can find something for 2024.

The only way they are going to open up is probably a recession but no one wants to cheer for that just to score award seats.

2024 is beyond the booking window but ANA has had plenty of J space through Virgin Atlantic miles in the last couple of weeks. Hopefully Asia starts to open back up and you can jump on that.

I'm trying to find J space for 2 to Italy in June/July and Germany in September and it is damn near impossible. When you do find a decently priced routing the layovers and connections are terrible.

Good to know. I was poking around a few months ago just to get a sense of their availability pattern and got nothing. I had booked ANA for November 2020 and well, COVID.

I've been wanting, and am able, to go to Japan. Just sitting here waiting. I don't want to go with some registered tour group.

Trying to book AUS-IAH-BTR for homecoming (Thurs-Sun) and everything is $5-600, but that's still way cheaper than AA or DL. Heck, DL is more than double UA

I've been receiving some pretty damned good deals the past 2 weeks from Scott's Cheap Flights - including Japan.

I wish, New Orleans and Baton Rouge are never listed with them so it's kinda pointless. Same with thepointsguy
