I hunted with Leen’s Lodge and had a great experience:

This was hunting over dogs in the woods for ruffed grouse and woodcock. Ruffed grouse is known as the ‘King of Game birds’ for a reason!
I shot well on the trip (3 days hunting) and Leen’s had good dogs.
You can’t see the dogs when hunting because the woods are so thick. You and your guide listen for beeping on the collar while the dog is moving. When the dog goes on point the beeping changes to a hawk scream to help freeze the birds and you rush through the woods to the dog.

Just got back from a week in Maine. Beautiful country.
- We stayed in Bar Harbor at The Balance Rock Inn and could not have enjoyed it more. Unbelievable location right near the town, but our own parking, and right on the ocean path. Breakfast every day was great, staff were all outstanding and had a great dinner at their restaurant The Veranda.
- had drinks at Bar Harbor Inn one evening - also beautiful - but much much larger a property than Balance Rock
- the town is nice but mostly t-shirt shops and kitsch stores. Some really good restaurant and bars though. Loved dinner at Tap and Barrel and Pizza at Rosalies (we saw people all week walking around with their pizza boxes so we had to try it the last night), and it was a nice change from seafood.
- The Ivey front yard for drinks, and Finback Alehouse were nice.
- Rented fat tire e-bikes from Acadia Fat Tire Bikes. This was the highlight of the trip - a full day riding the carriage roads in Acadia National Park
- saw one of the greatest sunsets of our lives the first night in bar harbor down on the ocean front. Also did the sunset at Cadillac Mountain but a low level cloud bank on the horizon sort of spoiled it that night. Still amazing views from the top.
- did the park one day using the free bus system and it was nice but very crowded.
- lots of lobster rolls - Bar Harbor Pound and the Ice Cream boat, Beals, and Thurston's. All great.
Drove all over Mount Desert Island - NE Harbor, SW Harbor, Bass Harbor, Seawall, etc. The smaller harbors away from Bar Harbor were really nice.
-drove the coast all the way back to Boston and really liked Wiscasset, Kennebunkport, and Ogonquit, but traffic is an issue on weekends.
- had simply amazing raw oysters a few nights - so briny. Wish I could have a dozen right now.
- We had a sunset cruise lined up but got cancelled due to heavy fog that day. That was the main regret that we did not get on the water. Also, would have liked to explore Schoodic Point, and maybe take a ferry to one of the far out islands or Canada.
- I would go back to Maine in a heartbeat. Some things I would do would be get on the water - sail, lobster boat experience, fish. Would do more hikes away from the main tourist part of the park. Would eat a full lobster instead of rolls. Would have steamed clams. Would move inland to one of the lakes and do some boating and fishing.
It's an interesting place.

only had one horse fly tear a hole in my calf while biking. Otherwise we had no issues at all.
