Wife and I are wanting to take a trip to celebrate our 1-year anniversary and also to take a "baby" moon (didn't even know those were a thing) aka our last trip before the little one arrives in June.

Looking to do this at the beginning of April - need some recommendations. I'm guessing the doctor will not let her travel internationally - so it will have to be in the US.

We are beach/pool people and obviously wanting a place with good eats.

I've come up with the following as options:

Miami/Fort Lauderdale
Naples
Tampa/St. Petersburg
Key West

I'm guessing the water is still going to be kinda chilly, but the further south we go the better.

Any other places that are recommended? Any hotels with good pool-side bars?

I'll take any information I can get!

I'd recommend going early April or earlier. The last 6 weeks or so the women are pretty miserable usually physically ready to birth the kid. Also, less chance of the kid coming early as 4-6 weeks is not that unusual. Finally, make sure your wife is going to want to beach/ pool that pregnant.

obviously i've never been pregnant but that sounds like the last place i'd want to go, if heavy with child. especially if i couldnt drink

i'd go to the mountains and at least get some light hiking & scenery in

What should it be then? We've done the hiking/mountain thing when she wasn't pregnant and we didn't really like it that much. She just wants to lounge around and relax

Scottsdale, AZ: go stay at the Four Seasons or the Phoenician....she gets access to a great spa & both are large enough that you don't have to leave the resort if you don't want. Fabulous pools, esp at the Phoenician. Bring a sack of money, too.

Scottsdale also has good shopping, and some interesting attractions like the Desert Botanical Gardens and Taliesin West. Plus the Heard Museum in Phoenix.

I'm actually confused on why a pregnant woman at 30 weeks would prefer strenuous hiking over pool lounging?

Also, I'm under the impression a pregnant woman who doesn't normally live at elevation should avoid going to elevation during pregnancy.

Maybe the Big Sur area in California? Still get the beach, great views, but it will be a little cooler and more to do.

My wife HATED the heat when she was pregnant. Not saying that yours won't be fine, but a beach trip would have been last on her list.

The average high in Key West during April is 81 degrees.

I assume his other Florida options are similar.

Doesn't sound like Destin during July to me.

Yeah, I don't think his plan is bad and the weather will be nice. I just didn't want them thinking about what they want to do NOW and not realize there's a good chance she won't be feeling the same in April.

Subtle brag about having sex too btw OP.

Go to Marco Island and stay at the JW Marriott. We went on recommendation from someone on here last May and it was awesome!

If you can do it at the end of the second trimester she will probably be the most comfortable and be able to enjoy it the most.

Make sure whatever you book can be refunded or rescheduled....pregnancy can be very unpredictable.

Outside of that just schedule it like any other trip. I’d recommend Key West, it’s beautiful and there’s a lot to do.

Make sure wherever you go there’s a bathroom close to the pool. If she hasn’t already, she will be going pee about every 15-30 minutes once lil agreenway starts pushing on her bladder.

We went to Costa Rica when I was in my second trimester. It was great.

I wouldn't rec the high altitude places. It's hard to breathe when you're in your late 2nd-3rd trimester.
