How are they noticing the day of the flight that they won’t have a crew?

Pilots timed out because of previous days' delays, people called in sick...no idea.

We're talking about AA here; your guess is as good as mine.

don’t get why so many people are traveling right now with all these delays and 2-3 hour security lines

Early morning flights, Carry-on bags, fly non-stop, get TSA precheck and you will eliminate the large majority of potential issues.

All of this--we don't check bags. And, at least at DFW, there have been very, very short lines regardless of time of day/day of week.

non-stop

This won't save you the way AA is running things right now but it's definitely better than a connection where they get to screw you twice.

Why does DFW have so many storm delays as of late? Obvously winter storms are bad up north and anywhere, but I've never heard other stories of say Atlanta with routine delays due to storms. Are the north Texas storms really that bad and worse than other places in the country?

FWIW, living in the south I prefer to fly American through DFW when traveling West as its on its way. I hate going through Atl or charlotte (american I know) or elsewhere that's out of the way. It may not be a huge time savings, but its enough to motivate me.

I was speaking of air travel in general. But a layover always runs the risk of completely missing your next flight which can cause major issues. Delays for non-stop flights are easier managed.

An Admirals Club in terminal C.

I wouldn’t get too close—best to observe this one from afar. Like you’re at the zoo.

Ah damn I’m at Bar Louie in Terminal D. I was hoping for drinks and a show.

Although there’s a golden retriever named Callie hanging out here with a vest that says “Pet Me!” and that’s a pretty fantastic consolation prize.

I know.

We're also operating in an environment that looks nothing like that with certain enterprises

Petting Callie is a much better option. As is Terminal D.

Is that an emotional support animal? Why is it allowed in the terminal? Everytime i've seen a service animal it was the opposite and didn't want someone touching it.

She is an emotional support animal that works with the airport apparently. Her job is to walk around the terminal and allow people to give her pets and attention.

I want the handler’s job.

No telling how much money that dog is making.

What a great disguise. Someone smuggling a bit of weed or some illegal pain killers will probably avoid any dog handled by someone in uniform.

Put the drug dog in a tutu, it immediately turns into an undercover success story.

i know avoid american at all costs.. too many terrible experiences since doug parker became ceo and started moving the airline towards the ultra low cost carrier model. no thanks.

united premium economy or delta comfort for me and mrs biscuit..

anyone flying AA or Spirit deserves what they get. Spirit is in complete meltdown and supposedly have given up on catching up and now just looking at a complete system reset.

Why were 500 flights cancelled today?

My Southwest flight to LAS last weekend was like 30 min delay, whatever, but the weird thing was we landed in a thunderstorm (who knew in rained in Vegas in the summer) and they closed the ramp right after we got to the gate, so we had to wait 45 min for bags.

Then flying home, 2 hr 30 min delay due to pulling a plane for mechanical issues, then replacement plane gets a stuck flap resulting in fuel burn over Lake P and a fast, fast landing at 330 am with an envoy of fire and rescue trucks on the runway keeping an eye on us.

Yup... loops over the lake then a couple of loops over downtown/westbank before flying straight across Metry to land.
