Stopping over in LA for a day. Land at 4 pm and flying out at 6 pm the next day.

Staying at the H hotel at LAX. My wife and I are both aviation buffs and plan to chill and watch planes a good bit.

Other than that, can anyone recommend a little outing? Would prefer not to drive an hour in any direction and prefer not to be assaulted by the homeless. Some friends recommended Malibu but it looks like it’s 1.5 hours each way.

Do people honestly think this is a common problem?

If you like beer, go to Monkish. The brewery isn’t far from the airport.

We were told by some friends that live in the area that the homeless situation is out of control.

Drive down to Manhattan beach and bar hop or go into town and catch a show at the comedy store

We took the kids a few years ago and did one of those open top van tours of the city which took us to a lot of the touristy spots (Hollywood sign, Griffith Observatory, Walk of Fame, Rodeo Drive, some celebrities homes, etc.). We also did a Hollywood “backlot” tour which was pretty cool

We did a bike tour and would recommend. I can find the name if interested. You get to see Santa Monica, Venice beach, Hollywood, Hollywood Hills, Century City, and more. E-bikes so it’s not physically demanding.

I think the outfit was in West Hollywood and maybe 4 hours. Good way to see the city. Homeless was not an issue.

Santa Monica has some really nice restaurants along PCH, and of course there’s the pier.

Manhattan or Hermosa Beach. Grab some food, drinks, walk on the beach, etc

Why not just ask your folks who live out there what to do? Or are they huddled inside all day too afraid of some bums to go outside

Hit Manhattan, Hermosa or Venice for some walk around and dinner as others have suggested. I would get up early and drive up the coast for some coffee and breakfast.

Either way, you will see more Bentleys and Ferraris than homeless attacks

Malibu isn't that far from LAX, pending traffic etc.

But yes, most have hinted at Manhattan Beach or Santa Monica Pier area.

Both very easy to get in and out of if you are going for a simple in and out situation.

Quick uber and you can enjoy
