Alaska Ski Train
I am no longer in Alaska but If any of you are up for a quick adventure and some back cross country or back country skiing this is something worth checking out.
"The Ski Train takes you to Alaska’s roadless backcountry for a day of cross-country skiing, backcountry skiing, or snowshoeing. From Anchorage, the train journeys north to Curry, a remote area north of Talkeetna. Curry used to be home to a ski resort, long since lost to a fire; today, the Ski Train is a once-a-year chance to get out and explore this terrain.
On the train, enjoy the scenery, play games, and picnic with friends. Off the train, ski or snowshoe terrain for all levels of skiers and snowshoers."

That sounds like a cool experience.
I was wondering about this... Miss the train and you are screwed, but thankfully that is not the case.

All persons must be back on the train by 3:30 pm as Ski Patrol has to do a head count to ensure we don’t leave anyone behind!

Utah is getting pounded. A few feet in the mountains this week and more to come tomorrow and throughout the week. Feels good to be getting back in the swing of it. January was rough.
I had a great day at Snowbasin yesterday, even though visibility was terrible in the afternoon at the top of strawberry. Spent the whole day there and middle bowl.
My house after 8” overnight

Headed to Jackson Thursday to Sunday this week. They've gotten a crazy amount of snow and another 26" over the next 5 days before I get there. Looking like good clear weather for my visit, should be a blast

Storm yellow is universally acclaimed as their best low light lens.. i prefer clear though.
I have those. I agree they are good. Was just wondering about the blue. Never tried clear in heavy snow.
I just got the Photochromic Gold Mirror. Can't wait to try them. Probably just wasting money, but I'm a sucker for new shite.

Rad to see everyone is getting some!
Our crew made a hard pivot from Canada after miserably cold days at both Panorama and RED mountain resorts.
The pipes to the house in Invermere BC froze, our rental GMC would intermittently die while driving at slow speeds, et alia.
We pivoted and drove to Seattle. Two days at Crystal just now were fun. No new snow but Crystal is steep enough and has enough varied terrain that it was still super fun.
Anyway, driving to Hood today right now for an afternoon session at Mt Hood Meadows.
Then finally home tonight to Bend where the faucet has been on since 1 FEB.
Probably should have never left but plans were made many moons ago.
Cheers all.
Here a cute pic of an avalanche patroller for your troubles:

Same here. Snow 7 of the last 8 days. Thankfully only one was major.
I've barely seen the mountains next to my house this week. They have been getting bombed nonstop. Should have a break tomorrow then more Thursday morning. It looks to dry up after that, hopefully not for too long. This has been incredible to watch.

When you say Northern Mountains, how far south is that covering? I am headed to Vail on March 7th and hoping for good snow.
I went to Purg in late January and it was very dry.

Just a bomber day here at Bachy. Day 71.
So deep. Untouched everywhere on Northwest. I’m also riding with two of my three favorite people on Earth to get down with.
These two are absolute beasts on any mountain,
I’m privileged to have them as friends:
They don’t even know about TD (booo) but I digress.

Yeah looks like we’re about to get nuked again. You going anywhere? I’m off on Fridays, so I’m just gonna wait until then. Should be plenty of snow left

Looks awesome!
I got to hit break for 3 days. My buddy and his son came in town. They are short on experience but It didn’t stop snowing. We got to break trail on Windows after the rope drop. My kiddo got to float around on her new Chetlers. I broke in my new RMUs which I can’t say enough about; they’re very playful and forgiving yet composed. Unbelievably fantastic days, especially yesterday.

I have a meeting at 7 and then will probably head up to snowbasin for the day after. Feels like we're running out of powder days so gotta take advantage. Although we usually always get 1 good storm in the spring

Huge loss for the Bend Oregon community this week as we lost two great ones in an avalanche close to Mt. Bachelor.
The couple owned a local ski shop here for years. Pillars of the community, as I understand it.
