You Colorado baws have been skiing for a few weeks now, but excited to report that Arizona Snowbowl in Flagstaff opens on 17 November and Bogus Basin opens Thanksgiving Day. Will be in Phoenix for Thanksgiving so may get to sneak a trip in at Snowbowl before coming back to Boise.
Snowguns are up and running at Snowbowl:

Going to focus on alpine this season rather than backcountry nordic or nordic touring, which is what I did last winter. My wife prefers the stability and stopping power of downhill skis versus nordic.

Thinking about heading to Banff in late January. Is Sunshine Village as bad for snowboarding as I’ve read (flat spots)?
Sunshine is kind of a quirky mountain, you take the gondola up from the parking lot and the way back from the main area can get very flat. I do think some of the worst of it is avoidable if you plan your day out right. Maybe start at Goat's Eye and work your way to other areas, then you can download the gondola if you want. My advice is ski Sunshine one day and Lake Louise the next, then decide where you want to go after that. Both have amazing scenery and fun runs, Sunshine can have the better snow while Lake Louise has better terrian.

Anyone skied Alyeska here? Debating taking a detour up there from WA in about a month. Never skied Alaska but they're getting a lot of early season snow

Hoping Whistler is good to go in about 4.5 weeks. Any of y’all been recently ?

The weather has not looked super great up there yet (warmer than we'd like) so I hope it turns around soon

They just got 20 inches and have another 20+ in the forecast over the next 10 days. Looks like things might be coming together nicely up there.

Never been but that place is on top of my ski bucket list.

No, but I’ve been there in the summer. It is a large, steep mountain. I’d love to ride it one day.

I know it’s still early but I was very surprised at the lack of snow in summit when I was up there this past weekend. Geez.

The pattern might be shifting a bit...

Hopefully so. It’s mid 50’s/ high 40’s out there all week.

For those of you flying southwest during ski season Jan-March, please check your reservations as they uploaded some major schedule changes yesterday. Been spending this evening helping some friends rebook from the east coast to big sky for a guys trip. I'm down to 45 minutes connecting in Denver now in mid February...

I got hit. Flying nonstop to DEN in January. My departure got changed a week or so ago, I rebooked that one. Then I got an email Monday that both had changed.
Sucks, because it cuts like 4 hours off my last day.

Bump for the good guys. Still pretty dry out there. Got 2 days in over the long weekend at copper.

In Boise? Have you ever skied there before?

General laziness and apathy from the employees that wouldn't fly in CO or UT. The roads are incredibly icy. They don't use salt because of the lake, so it really builds up on the side roads that don't get plowed as often. Clusterfricks in the lift lines that could easily be prevented with organization. The worst thing is, they shut the gondola (the only way up the mountain if you are staying in State Line) down if the wind is blowing too hard. Which I certainly understand, but that is like 50% of the time. They also shut down most of the lifts north of the line, so half the resort is unavailable, on an otherwise beautiful day. The gondola is also the only way down. So if you stay all day you will be waiting in a line of 500 people to get to your place. They have buses to take you to the California side. But it was like a 2 hour wait. So we lost a day there. Bluebird days when you can't get up the mountain are frustrating. Same situation the next day, but we were able to find an uber. $100 for like 5 miles. This was the day I referred to as one of my favorites. It snowed from 12-4, harder than I've ever witnessed. The mountain started to clear out and we had the whole place to ourselves. Only 2 lifts were open and like 15 trails, but it didn't matter. Every run had untouched powder on it by the time we got up again. Getting knocked on my arse by 60 mph winds coming around a corner a few times. Reminded me of playing in hurricanes as a kid. Reflecting on it now, if we stayed on the Cali side and never had to go anywhere else, I might feel totally different. So I guess that would be my advice to anyone going. frick that Gondola.
Haven’t been to Tahoe in 15 years but staying on Heavenly across the street from the stage coach lift on the Nevada side. Isn’t that the less trafficked side? My bigger concern is getting down mountain for dinner and such. Are the ride shares easy? We aren’t planning on bringing a car.
If you’re familiar with the area, do you have any advice. We’re staying at a condo there.
