IDK on Beaver Mnt but the snow looked good up there today.
Should be in business till the middle of November. After that, I think it gets dry for a little bit.

Long shot...any one ski Japan recently? Will be over for business in January and would like try it. Stay on main island maybe Nozawa Onsen or Nagino?

The storm next week should be bountiful for Utah, CO, WY, ID mountains.
Should be another round to follow too by early next week.

Japan has been completely closed for tourists for two years.

Yepo… I know it was a long shot. Company I work for has large presence in Japan so we could work through Visa during Covid

Starting to plan out my winter trips for this season. Got very lucky last year with no flight delays/cancellations, no lost luggage, and great snow conditions at Tahoe + Taos. Going to post some ideas below and if anyone has thoughts feel free to respond/add in other suggestions. Most trips I take are for 3-4 days (ie fly out Thursday afternoon, fly back Sunday night or Friday-Monday).
Pass for this season- Ikon Pass
Ski level- Difficult
December- Ski locally in WA at Crystal or Mt. Baker
January- Drive up to Sun Peaks and Revelstoke in Canada (roughly 5.5-7.5 hr drive). How many days do I need at each? Thinking 2 but open to 3/1.
Drive to Schweitzer (ID) for 2 days and potentially 1 day at 49* North a little north of Spokane. Also open to Sun Valley??
February- Taos (NM) for 3 days. One of my best trips last season around valentines day.
Salt Lake City area for 3 days- 1 day at Snowbird/Alta, 2 days at Brighton/Solitude? Never skied Brighton or Solitude so looking for ideas in SLC area
March- Skiing locally in WA and maybe drive down to Mt. Bachelor for 3 days

Brighton does require reservations this year, just a heads up. I really like the place, tree skiing would be crazy there on a powder day. Solitude and Brighton are connected like Alta and Snowbird are so you can ski between the two.
I'm also doing a Revelstoke-Sun Peaks trip this year, Revy has been on top of my bucket list for a while. Kicking Horse is also not too far from Revelstoke, went there last year and it might be the best expert resort in Canada.

Thanks for the heads up about Brighton's reservations
. You think two days there and one at snowbird/Alta or flip it?
Only 5.5 hrs a drive to Sun Peaks for me
. I'm leaning towards early January weekend after new years, but I'll have to look at average snow forecasts. If you're up there around the same time let me know, would be nice for a travel board ski meetup

I’ve done Brighton a couple times on powder days and it was incredible. Not really a fan of Solitude, but crowds are almost nonexistent every time I’ve been which is nice. Snowbird is my favorite and IMO should be your 2 day mountain but Brighton is my son’s favorite. I would suggest doing both and then on your third day go back to your favorite.

I think the last poster had the best advice, do your first day at Brighton and then go from there. Wish I could say more about Solitude but I only skied a few hours there since the snow was less than stellar. The LCC resorts had decent snow even when it hadn't snowed for weeks there.
I won't be going to BC until late Feb, took a week off of work for the trip. Flying into Kelowna is going to be an adventure with multiple connections but it was under 27k miles for the trip.
My first trip will be the week before Christmas in SLC. Hoping the snow keeps up. Goal is to ski 30 days, should be doable with mixing a couple days at local hills around Minnesota.

I have been to both a few times. Some of my best days. Very quiet and peaceful. Come down the trail and right back on the lifts. I favor Brighton, but solitude is worth a visit as well. If the crossover is open, worth getting a pass for both

Excellent advice. What I'm doing now is booking brighton for friday thru sunday and then the days I'll go to snowbird I can cancel the reservations for brighton the night before.

All good, hopefully SLC picks up some good snow by christmas. It was great up here in WA christmas week last year.

Off to a good start in N Utah. Another couple of systems incoming over the next ten days too.
Evolution of the Pacific going to be key late into November with a blocking ridge over Greenland expected (favors cold eastern US, but more so if the Pacific Coast is ridging vs troughing).

Active pattern staying active. Should see nice totals in the PNW, ID, MT, WY UT and especially the Sierras in the coming week. Have seen projections of 30-60 inches for Mammoth also Big Sky, Targhee, Jackson, Northern Utah 20-30+

I wish CO would get in on some of this but itll be plenty cold to make snow at least.
Glad to see it for the Sierras especially.

Hey folks, a few questions
I got an (almost) free place to stay in Steamboat. Its 1000ft from the lifts, 1 bedroom condo for next to nothing.
I can go any time in February for a full week.
Questions:
For starters, is it typically frigid that month like Breck?
Skied quite a bit over the years but never with kids. Would be taking a 1 year old with sitter/grandparent I assume. Is this a terrible idea?
Flying into Steamboat seems reasonable. Is this a town you need a rental car in, or are there plenty of shuttles to restaurant/bar type places?

I would highly recommend Heavenly in South Lake Tahoe. Especially if it's a guys trip. Tons of snow to ski/snowboard and for us everything was walkable from Hard Rock Casino. The gondola that takes you up to the slopes is downtown not even a 10 minute walk from the Hard Rock. Night life in the town is pretty good but was never too packed where we couldn't move in bars.

Kicking around the idea of Sun Valley in March.
Went last year in March and really liked it. We usually are in Vail earlier in the season. Sun Valle Inn was great.

Sun Valley. Staying at Sun Valley Inn. Anyone have can’t miss restaurants? I see there is a bus system there. Is it pretty good? Any reason to get a rental vehicle?
Stayed at the Sun Valley Inn and took the shuttle to ski and the hotel drove us to dinner every night.
Ketchum Grill
The Ram (locals favorite)
Michel's Christina (We liked it a lot)
Round House (top of bald mountain, and you need to take the gondala up. A lot like Game Creek Lodge in Vail. Very scenic sort of tourist trappy, but worth doing at least once. The views are pretty bad arse at sunset.)
The pool at Sun Valley Inn was our favorite after ski spot. We really like that hotel/town.
