The Columbia 3-in-1 had a good run. I know Columbia isn’t really a big name in ski gear but that was a damn good jacket.
I have had a similar experience with a 4 in 1 North Face with the zip in vest or jacket. I like the versatility and I've been in the low single digits with the jacket zipped in and have been plenty warm with a fleece and base layer underneath.
My thought when I bought it was to prioritize versatility, appearance and price over pure warmth because I don't ski in gnarly enough conditions every year and I could always upgrade if I needed and T the cost of some of these jackets I could almost buy an year epic pass.

No thanks. Had to shell out a for a two day Epic pass for Whistler this season. Complete garbage. I’d have rather thrown $300 out the window of the gondola.
US resorts are already out of control with ticket pricing.
Solden Austria has eight gondolas. Eight.
This is the five day pass I rode with a little over a month ago:
Five days at a gigantic mountain with eight gondolas and two separate glaciers for $329 EUR
It’s a crime what’s happening in the US. $30 extra just to get to the top of Big Sky.

Heads up baws. Epic pass early bird sale started this morning for 23/24 season. Just locked in our 3 days for Whistler. May wanna jump on it.
The mobile option really doesnt do anything for me because to be honest, the card just stayed in my jacket the entire time and more times than not I forgot to show it when we bought food on the mountain anyway.
Am I happy with the price hike, not really but I do like shorter lines and I know its just inevitable. To be honest, if purchased in advance I really don't think less than $90 a day for a week OR $900 for a season is all that bad.
I know it's more than what it used to be but I try to not to compare to what things used to be and rather to what the other options are and I think it compares well to the cost of other vacations.
At $90/day, thats near OR less than a Broadway show, most theme park tickets, rounds of golf, a 60 minute massage, alot of day trips / excursions, tons of guided of guided tours (snorkeling, etc), cooking classes, dinner for two, etc.

Still using mine.
Probably going to get a shell before the end of the season. A good shell + a melly under should get the job done.

Ended up getting a couple diff jackets. I’ll pick the one I like best and give the other to my stepson or just keep it for a spare.
Burton Covert denim 175$(down for 250$) on moose jaw. . Saw a guy in lift line in keystone and liked this jacket so much that I made a point to ask him where he got it. Not sure how functional it is but loved the look of it.
Also couldn’t pass on another 3-in-1 whirlibird interchange Columbia for 90$ bucks. My last one was/is a workhorse it’s just a bit small for me now.

I have the denim covert pants with a different Burton jacket. Both are really warm, I typically just have under armour underneath.

Sweet. I’ll prob get a pair of denim pants to go with that one. I’ve never owned anything Burton before.

While I don’t disagree with you I’d spent a shitload more flying my whole family to Austria. That MTN looks awesome. I think for my first international ski trip (not counting Whistler) I’d like to give Zermatt a try. I’m sure there is better skiing elsewhere but I’d really like to see Matterhorn in person.

If I go outside of North America, Japan is at the top of my list

Japan is the answer.
That Burton jacket will suit you well. I’ve ridden Burton jackets and pants for 25 seasons now.
Burton AK line is a little pricey but completely worth the money.

Holy hell - denim top and bottom.
I like your style - Canadian tuxedo.

I want to add another color ski pants and love my Columbia Bugaboo but for some reason they did away with the additional zippered leg pocket (which is where I like to keep my phone). So I took a look at the Kick Turn which are supposed to have a more slim design and DO have a thigh pocket but I am a bit worried about the elastic leg gaiter in a slimmer designed pant being wide enough to get over most standard ski boots.

Low snow year for Europe but my friends rode the Matterhorn this season.
They actually used their Ikon at all the Euro resorts. Took trains to and from the next town/resort/country.
That’s the way to do it.
Anyway, Matterhorn:
They met me in Austria a week later.

That looks so badass. Would love to fly in somewhere in Switzerland that I could make a detour at Lauterbrunnen and grindewald. on the way to zermatt.
As far as non -north American ski destinations go. My wish list would be Switzerland and then prob a tie for 2nd between Austria and Japan.

I’ve got the Burton pants that look like jeans. The damn front pockets are so shallow that I hardly ever wear them but Ive been looking for the perfect denim color jacket to match the pants.
I haven’t found it yet.
When I do, it’s on:
I usually wear matching top and bottom. Burton comic book camo:
Burton Shaun White Three Piece Suit:

Got to imagine a company as big as Columbia thought about that when designing ski pants...
I've been looking for some slimmer pants as well, my 10 year old columbias are still fine, but are super baggy compared to what all the folks are wearing these days.

Ikon and Epic have their pass information out for 23/24 now, not much has changed for Ikon outside of Taos moving off the base tier.
Might just go with a base pass next year, $589 with the discount is hard to beat.
