How the hell does Wolf Creek report so much more snow than everywhere else in Colorado? I don't usually look at their reports much but have been lately and looked up some historical data. They report significantly more than anyone else in the southern range (Taos, Telluride, Purgatory.. places like that)

Aspect that's more favorable for the SW flow that dumps down that way? Snow stake in a favorable location to also collect wind load?

Are there any cabins that sleep 10+ but also ski in/out in Colorado? Or are all the ski in/out big resorts?
I'm looking to start planning a Mardi Gras 2018 ski trip for 5-7 couples. Would be ideal to find a place large enough to sleep everyone.

I'm sure you can find a cabin that sleeps 10+ at most mountains out there. Big resorts probably have the most options available, but you should be able to find one at a smaller resort if I had to guess.
Really looking forward to heading out on Thursday to Vail. Hoping they get a lot of snow early in the week. Unfortunately it looks like the high is 13 and a low of -5

What should I expect the lift lines to be like in angel fire from Jan 3 to jan 8? Is there a place I can look to find this kind of info in the future?

Dude that area was awesome
Not an epic day condition wise but still good nonetheless. 6 inches fell today and another 6 or so coming tonight so hopefully tomorrow delivers the goods.
Any freshies over in Steamboat?

Nothing yet. Made it out this afternoon and cruised around some trees looking for soft snow. Decent conditions.
Got tomorrow off so gonna spend some time lapping the hike to stuff at the Boat.

View today from the summit here on Big Mountain (aka Whitefish Mtn Resort), with Glacier Natl Park off in the distance.

Nice find today
I tried to send a snap but my got damn iPhone quits on me in the cold and snow. Wolf creek was epic today and should be even better tomorrow. So much snow and so few people compared to what I'm used to
Lots of snow coming this week with Thursday shaping up to be a BIG pow day. Steamboat looks to be getting the most of the Rocky Mountain Super Pass resorts

That hut was awesome and the snow around it was sooooooo good. Snowing hard right now. Working but I'll be skiing the afternoon.
I was gonna hit Vail Thursday but numbers for the Boat look like I might stay here. I got the day off so it'll line up perfect regardless! Snow should be awesome all week.

If you do end up at Vail Thurs, hit me up. Was supposed to fly out on Thursday, but changed my flight to early tomorrow morning to Eagle because of the snow forecast :fingerscrossed:

Will do.
Steamboat was skiing absolutely great this afternoon. Cold, light, fluffy champagne powder. More on the way!

"With more than 12 feet of snow accumulating on Big Mountain since mid-November, Whitefish Mountain Resort is reporting the most snowfall in 18 years as it ushered record-breaking crowds through its lift lines over the holidays."
This past Friday saw the single day all-time record for skiers at whitefish mountain resort (aka big mountain).
