I had to install a hack to get it on my Nexus 6 and I couldn't live without it.

Can't believe this isn't more popular on smart phones.

(Here come all the Apple fans to gloat)

I'll never accept that people choose to view purposely inaccurate color. Sheep, if you ask me.

I use f.lux on my PC and the night mode on my oneplus 3t every night. It actually lets me get tired while playing a game on my phone, helps me sleep.

There has been some bullshite with Google enabling then disabling it on Nexus phones.

And by bullshite I mean they're selling it only as a feature on pixels so they deliberately removed it from the latest 7 for Nexus.

All that app does is reveal the night shift option in settings Google hid and allow it to run automatically based on your location.

How do I know if my phone has it, and why is it desirable?

If you're a fricktard like me who doesn't have a lick of sense God gave a piss-ant to put your phone down and go to bed night shift will change the gamma on your phone to a much easier-on-the-eyes-in-the-dark warm yellow hue.

Changing it back to white to see the difference will literally make your eyes hurt.

Amazing the strain I've been putting on my eyes all these years.

Eta what phone do you have again? It should be in the settings but you might have to scroll to the bottom.

Not gamma, color temperature.

The orange hue makes my eyes hurt. It's ugly and looks wrong. It makes my eyes work harder. OTOH, I do like my iPhone's automatic brightness adjustment. That's useful.

Moto Z Play.

At night, I rarely touch my phone. If at home, I just use my Surface.

It looks even worse on my Fire tablet, but then that's a crappy screen with screwy color to begin with.

and you're right, its more 'orange' than yellow. its really hard to describe though.

quote:

In general, looking at your phone at night is a terrible idea. ... It enables a new mode called Night Shift that you can set starting at whatever you choose time in the evening. When Night Shift kicks in, your phone automatically adjusts the display so that it gives off warmer, less blue light.

Apple and Harvard scientists also believe in AGW. Where do you stand on that settled science?
