Why do we not talk about how bad Apple Intelligence is?

I really don't get it. Apple has been promoting this like crazy and it is the only reason I upgraded my Iphone.

It is pure trash.

The product is so bad I don't understand why they hype it.

I would love to talk directly to my phone and get results like I do in Chatgpt or Grok.

Yes, I do have it connected to chatgpt but it is still just so so bad.

I didn't know anyone was naive enough to want it.

They would do better off if they did it like Google. Don't use somebody else's AI that is so lazy just incorporate your own software into your personal assistant on your phone. Gemini works pretty good for the most part and you can have live conversation with it. I get it though apple has always been reliant on someone else to make their phones good, they kinda the Walmart of smart phones

It does suck right now. Apple has even put out memos to its despondent AI software development teams about it and fired the guy in charge.

"AI" is basically just a fancy search engine with some tricks. The amount of prompting that the developers have to include for these routines to work is staggering. It's a lot of smoke and mirrors.

When AI can learn from itself, then I'll be impressed. For now, it's just a party trick.

I think most youtuber's and tech articles have done a very thorough job of bashing the hell out of Siri and Apple on this topic, honestly.

Apple has come out and said that they missed the mark. They have a class action lawsuit against them basically alleging bad faith marketing due to siri intelligence.

I honestly just use siri/google home to just say commands like "Siri, lock my front door" or "Siri, turn on XYZ light", etc. Candidly, that works well for me 99% of the time.
It obviously sucks when it comes to asking more intelligent things like "Siri, when does the mens usa soccer team play next" or something like that.

Nope - no thanks - don't want to be a part of your Terminator reality.

People don't get that a ton of "AI" is put on existing products (like log analysis) essentially for the sole reason that the board wants to know how "AI" is being taken advantage of, and "AI" will somehow magically make maintenance and operation less expensive, conveniently leaving out how many man hours are required to actually make the shite work.

... and ONLY if you have a phone from the last 2 iterations.
I have an apple iphone 14 pro max and really want that cool new animation just so it can defer to chatgpt.

It does it on my ipad pro but not my phone - meh.

I don’t get how awful it is. Ask siri about something for a specific area and she can’t even say the easiest responses. Instead I get here’s what chatgpt says with 3 big text boxes. Honestly the only reason to use siri or these services is when you’re not able to type it in or read boxes of text.

Just answer the effing question. If I ask her how far away birmingham Alabama is from Baton Rouge LA, it won’t tell me but instead asks for location services to be on. Like damn just give me a center of town to center of town. It’s beyond stupid and of no use and borderline dangerous by not working intuitively.

Siri, like Alexa, is trusted with credit cards and home security. It can’t work the same way as LLMs that make shite up. The key is getting the two styles to play nice with each other and not letting the LLM side actually control anything in your account without appropriate oversight. Maybe Google has this figured out already?

Thought it was just me. Siri would answer this question, until like 2 years ago. Now it says the location needs to be on. Does this for a few things, that have nothing to do with needing my location.
