More like new features. If you don't value those new features that's fine, but don't rip on people that do. I'm on the fence about upgrading my 6 and may hold out another year. If I do make the upgrade though it will most likely be because the new edge to edge screen gives you a bigger screen in the same footprint as the 6. That's not advertising, that's utility.

Last couple iphones i have bought on craigslist. Just got pretty much a brand new 7 for $400. Just do ur homework, validate its not stolen, and u can setup icloud on the phone before handing cash.

My 6+ is starting to act like dickhead so I'm going to be in the market. Any other phone I should look at other than iPhone? Only ever had iPhones

I doubt it.
The consensus is that they won't because of the hype. Now Tmob or Sprint might, but I doubt you see massive promotions by VZW or AT&T to sell you the 8, which they won't have enough stock of immediately.
Anyway, my goal is to get it at launch, and the best way to do that is through Apple preorder. Plus I'm joining an existing AT&T plan, so I'm not sure adding a line would qualify for any promotion anyway.

I think I'll be getting one. I've had the 6+ for the last 3 years. I want the expensive one, but really don't want a smaller screen than what I have on the +. It's a conundrum.

But you could have paid $2000-$3000 for an OLED one. You can get cheaper phones too and not just Android. It will be interesting to see what Apple does at the low end. Apple looks like they're pushing AR hard and AR works best with a good CPU and multiple cameras. Will a $399 iPhone SE fit what Apple thinks iPhones should be doing in 2 years?

True but like most value minded consumers, I'm not willing to spend an extra 2000 bucks to get darker blacks and I'm also not willing to spend an extra 400 bucks on an iPhone which IMHO does less in an analogous manner to distinguish itself from cheaper Android phones. But hey, I absolutely get that for customers who like the iPhone OS, paying a premium for the latest iPhone is not a big deal when you have the income to do so. I applaud the beauty of the market economy. Apple is easily the most profitable cell phone manufacturer and they have obviously found a sweet market.

I read something the other day that the 7S will actually be called the 8, and what everyone thought would be called the 8 will be the Iphone X or Pro... who knows if that's true though.

Infrared. They've supposedly added a lot of 3D sensing cameras/tech for the AR stuff which also helps the facial recognition. If they are completely ditching TouchID I'm sure it will be fine most of the time. However, I bet there's a TouchID-Gate on Halloween as millions of masked and heavily made up iPhone users are too drunk to remember their passcode.
