What to expect when upgrading to fiber (AT&T)…

It’s installed with a new modem/Wi-Fi router box. I’m now getting error codes to unplug and replug in my HDMI cables going from the Roku stick to my 4k LG TVs. Do I need to upgrade the HDMI cables to the 4k HDCP 2.2 cables now? What else do I need to upgrade? TIA…. Just want to make the most of the new band width for picture quality. Anyone else going/went through this?

Having faster internet shouldn't break anything, and it certainly shouldn't start throwing error codes. Are you sure you didn't change your SID name/security type, etc?

re: What to expect when upgrading to fiber (AT&T)…
Thanks. Yes. All settings/passwords, etc. were simply transferred from the old box. I’m realizing that the Roku and other streaming devices are at least 3-5 years old, so replacing them is probably smart ( @ $50 ea, they are not too expensive and may have update internal hardware components that will make a big difference. The more research I do, I’m learning more. From the pole on my street to my tv screen, there are several components (boxes, wires, etc.) that may be weak links restricting performance just cause they are old. Thanks for your help!! Happy new year!!

Moved to ATT Fiber at my new house. Bought the Netgear Orbi6 with 2 satellites. No issues for me at all.

They are still selling 2019 model Roku's, yours is probably fine.

Is the AT&T gateway the only router you're using?

AT&T gateway

That’s what we use and we also have Suddenlink. I can’t understand how 400mb Suddenlink is always much faster on Speedtest than AT&T fiber.

Assuming the broadcasted name of your new router is the same you probably need to reboot your devices so they can log in and get their new ip addresses.

This has nothing to do with your Fiber

yes, I have the Google wifi pucks (3) setup and working fine. Just ordered a new Roku Express 4K+ 2021 | Streaming Media Player with an 8k HDMI cable. I hope this will provide great results... Roku sells an ethernet connected unit also..

If 400mb Suddenlink is "always much faster" than your 1G fiber service, you have your devices set up incorrectly. I generally get 700/700 over wifi, and I don't think I've gone below 450 anywhere in my house, under any conditions, ever.

I don’t really know what to do any differently. I’m moderately tech savvy but I just don’t know what to do in this instance.

My knee jerk is that you might have it set up as single band, but there are a ton of variables and possibilities.

The newest version of the big white chunky thing ATT requires. Nothing special.

Strongly recommend using a 3rd party router. I had issues with the wifi dropping until I started using my own.

Sounds like a coincidence and not fiber related. roku has issues with this now and then. Unplug and re-plug cables can help. You might also try changing chroma from 4:2:0 to 4:2:2. By no logical reason should that make a difference but it does with some setups.

I second this. ATT WIFI gateway was a weekly problem with signal drop. I started using a linksys router and haven't had the issue in months.
