I got fiber when charter couldn’t get it together for months after Ida and it’s great... except for the dropped WiFi on the streaming devices- happens numerous times a week and our house isn’t huge. I have a good router that I’ve just been too lazy to hook up. It’s just slightly annoying that they make me rent this thing and its WiFi signal is so piss poor that things one room over are dropping constantly. Like, it’s so bad it’s disrespectful. Now I’m pissed! :D

AT&T sucks! Now that we got that out of the way. Open your browser and enter the following ip: 192.168.1.254. Then enter your username and password for the AT&T Gateway (that's what they call it), the username and password are on a tag on the back, or the bottom of that Gateway. Go to "Wireless" and turn off both the 5 gig and the 2.4 radios, Save and exit. Now hook up your router and configure it the way you want, if you haven't already configured it in the past. Easy peasy.

AT&T is running fiber in our neighborhood. The only ATT internet service for our neighborhood currently is their low-end DSL packages. You're either on that or Cox cable (which is what I'm on). I'm interested in seeing how the competition impacts pricing.

***EDIT*** to clarify.

I just upgraded mine to fiber. No issues with pre-existing equipment (tv’s and Wifi extender). Maybe call ATT and have them come back. As for pricing, they matched what I was paying before for lower-capacity copper connection. They also waived the installation fee.

I also had ATT before. The internet portion of my bill was $35 for 25mb (copper). Now paying same for 500mb (fiber).

I messaged Cox in their support chat when ATT Fiber became available and they basically matched the price when I threatened to leave. Saved a bunch of money. Didn’t even have to call anyone.
