What the hell good is a chromecast?? PoS i'm yanking them all.

Let's see:
- can't cast HD homerun app OR MIRROR PHONE SCREEN SO frick CAD FOR WANTING TO WATCH THE MORNING NEWS WITH HIS COFFEE unless he drags out his laptop or phone and uses that instead
- can't cast comcast from chrome tab on pc or android (says copyright violation) which is one of the reasons i got rid of comcast
- can't cast live tv from plex (says copyright violation)
- 8 out of 10 youtube kids videos 'not allowed' when i try to play them on a chromecast. really??? frickING REALLY??? so now you are going to vet every youtube video for 'worthiness' to cast to your shitty tv dongle?
- forget about anything related to kodi or reddit streams for football games..ALL BANNED.
- always have to hunt for a damn phone to use it.

this christmas i'm buying the frick out of some roku and fireTV. i'm over this shite. can't believe they think this PoS can compete with a $25 4K stick that includes an voice controlled remote and actually frickING WORKS 100% OF THE frickING frickSHIT YES I'M MELTING TIME.

If chromecast was your primary streaming device you've been doing it wrong for quite some time now.
I have chromecast built in to my nvidia shield and I basically only use it to cast Google photos to me TV every now and then.

Yup, especially while I sit here and reflect on how much I love my Chromcast TVs and especially Chromecast Audio.

it was originally when i dumped comcast b/c it was a quick & easy way to make all my old TVs scattered around the house smart..this is pre roku sticks & fire TVs.
as i put together my OTA solution i slowly realized google decided to say frick YOU to OTA and that 0% of my OTA solution was LOCKED OUT so forget watching LIVE TV on all the TVs..nice one google.
i gave it a couple years to give google time to add support.
shame on me for being stupid. you got me. let's frick over our users who opt for a good old fashioned FREE antenna solution eh? can't peek at what our subjects are watching if they do that right? we can't allow something to work that we can't put into our database to sell to teh highest bidder huh? Trade them in on Amazon for 25% of fire devices... No clue if still active but it normally is
Discount is usually active for Black Friday sales as well.

i have a ton of old TVs in the kids rooms, playroom, fireplace near the kitchen that i'm too cheap to replace and need a solution to watch normal, live, god-fearing, broadcast tv on.
i seeded all those with chromecasts back in the day and never bothered to update which is why i'm going to swap for roku sticks on black friday.
2 issues in the last 4 days pissed me off to the n-th degree
- had a big LSU party saturday and while the main BIG SCREEN TVs worked just fine, i couldn't put the game on any other TV in the house which sucked.
- tried to watch the news this morning before work and could neither make this happen with my phone nor my laptop and it sent me over the edge b/c i should be able to just pick up a remote and tune in channel 2 so that's what i'm about to make happen with a good ol' roku black friday stick.

not even close.
i have a friend who *ahem* enjoys my private music cloud collection and he was down in the basement watching the game there and downloading music and was about 20 minutes behind.
i just wanted the game on in the kitchen even though i did have the sonos playbar casting the audio to every room and outside where we had the cornhole game going.

I couldn’t do that. The game not being sync on different displays would drive me nuts.

Yup. I saw this trend early on. I still travel with a chromecast because it's quicker, but at home I run 2 FireTV Sticks, 1 Cube and the Recast.
OTA on all TVs in the house from my computer. No maintenance cost and the Recast is solid. I also run a PLEX/Antenna/OTA as well. So 2 ways, two different attenna locations, etc. Treat them differently though.
This has been the best setup for me.

Using the Chromecast has gotten infuriating of late. Ever since the WWE Network updated it's app, the Chromecast works like complete shite with it. You can't watch anything live and the audio lags a few seconds behind the video. Daily Motion and a bunch of other streaming formats are no longer compatible. ATT TV Now has always worked like shite with the Chromecast and it hasn't gotten any better.
