With Google Podcasts going away on April 2nd I need a good replacement to switch my podcasts over to. I'm on iOS.

I’ve been using Overcast for years.

But there are plenty of good apps. You can find them on

I have been using AntennaPod for many years.
It's way better than anything else. Spotify sucks (in almost all dimensions) IMO.

I"m so sore about Google Podcasts going away.
I'm going to try to use YT Music, but I just can't see it working well.
NO idea why Google keeps combining their apps. Ditching the google business app to integrate with Maps is insanely stupid

Why not use the Apple podcast app works pretty good

One thing I like about it is you can use actual youtube with it. Youtube has lots of cool playlists. So what I like to do is make a playlist in YTM and then have just "one track" of that playlist be a YT that is actually just an hourlong playlist. etc.

Oh I use it for music and think it works well that way, but I meant as a podcast app.

That's one of the reasons I DON'T use Apple products. They mostly work "pretty good" but there is always a product out there that works better!

I use pocket cast, but don't they all do the same thing? Is there some defining feature that one has over the other?

Most of which you can also use on Apple products. Also, genuine question: what exactly are you asking from your podcast app, beyond, you know, playing podcasts?

Search for podcast then hit the play button. What’s the problem?

1. Ability to play offline for free
2. Ability to play podcasts without ads native to the app
3. UI/functionality
YTM has 1 and 2, but 3 is probably going to be an issue.
Spotify fails both 1 and 2

I haven't used it in a while, but I think Overcast probably meets your 1 and 2. It's a pretty solid, but no frills podcast app.
I'm curious why? That used to be a requirement for me back before unlimited data became standard for everyone but my parents.
This is a big reason why I moved from Overcast to Spotify. I can switch from mobile device to computer pretty seamlessly, and I can also easily send music/podcasts to my bluetooth speakers instead of playing them on my phone.

quote:IMO, this is where Spotify sucks. If they don't have your podcast, then you can't cast it. AntennaPod also has built-in Chromecast controls.
