Good TV and I would check out rtings and go through the site and compare to other models.
To bad Oled may not work for you, i have a Sony Oled that I'm trying to get rid of.

Thanks. The one I posted was listed on that list as a recommended "clearance models you might still find" high-end TV.

Seems like it's a pretty good deal unless there's something that the 2022 model has that it doesn't (the Q90B version versus the Q90A). As best I can tell, the 2022 has all HDMI 2.1 ports but the 2021 has only 1 out of 4. That doesn't seem like a $800 difference, but maybe it is.

I have the qn85 - one step down and I like it a lot.
The only “issue” it has is haloing around CC and ending credits and occasionally I see it in a dark scene. My wife wouldn’t know what it is unless I showed her.

The qn85 has an “ips” panel that doesn’t have as good contrast as the other panels but has really good side to side visibility I think it looks as good as an OLED or better for general tv and sports viewing but not as good for movies with a lot of dark scenes

I do find myself switching from my calibrated settings and filmmaker mode depending on the content

Sometimes. Usually it will tell you if it is cheaper in the store when you look online, it won't show the price but it will say "cheaper in store".

I personally have gone the TCL/Hisense route for new TV's. I use to be pretty loyal to Sony but you get 90% of the TV for 50% or less of the price and can justify upgrades more often. Not all TCL and Hisense models are good, but there are enough of them that are good/get good reviews that I have been happy.

Honestly, when you aren't looking at panels side by side it is really hard to tell the 10% blacker (probably less) blacks, etc. etc.

My biggest thing is a bigger screen, even my old 720p projector looked good and it was awesome because it was 120" wide, something like 140" diagonal.

We have two 65" TCLs in the house and one on the back porch. All about three years old and still working great.

We have had the 85" 90A version of that TV in our den since January and overall it is great for the price. It had a little more soap opera effect out of the box than I expected but I am sensitive to that and was able to get rid of most of it, but it is mainly for my wife anyway since I don't watch TV in the den and she doesn't notice it and like other picture issues I don't point it out to her. It is very bright and handles HDR better than most panels. It was calibrated very well OOB and really came alive with a simple calibration.

I think it is hard to beat for the price especially if you need a high NITs TV.

As for the HDMI 2.1 inputs it depends on what your sources are going to be, I run everything through a receiver so only ever use one connection to the TV.

Don't expect 8k to be an issue in the next 5 years (your expected lifespan). We don't even get streaming 4k at a decent bit rate today it really isn't much better than a 1080 Blu-ray. A 4K Blu-ray blows even the best 4k streams away in picture quality and sound has an even bigger delta. Also keep in mind a 65" TV at 10ft is not going to see much benefit from 8K you just can't resolve it at that distance. We sit 8ft from the 85" in the den and that's too far to really fully utilize 4k, the optimal viewing distance for a 4k 65" is around 5'. This is another reason 8K will not make much difference except in large home theaters with projectors and native 8K projectors are going to be very expensive for a long time. Native 4K projectors (not FauxK) are just now getting reasonable for most moderately priced theaters.

24 hour review . TV out of the box has a great picture. I have Directv and the picture is really good, not great. On streaming platforms(Amazon, Netflix, Paramount, Peacock) this TV really shines. I'm using the standard picture setting. I tried the calibrated settings from RTINGS but I found the picture to be too dim in my living room.

Great choice of apps and the interface is quick. (Note: I hardwired my set and I have giga service).

I bought the QLED for 2 reasons: This set is for our living room which is really bright and I was worried about burn in with OLED as my children watch the same station non-stop during the day if I'm not watching sports.

Very happy with my purchase in this short timeframe.
