After doing a few days of research I can't really make up my mind on what TV I want within my parameters. I don't want to make a mistake either.

Parameters:
60"-65" (Preferably 65")
120+ Hz
Does not need to be 4k (Living room so I sit 10-12 feet away)
Must have TV tuner
Under $1000
Not a crap brand.

Simply point me in the direction of the best TV I can buy within those parameters. I would really appreciate the feedback.

If you're lucky, walmart has 65" curved 4k for $699

I was originally going to go with Vizio until I saw that spec. I am trying to find the 65" 2015 model that has it but I only see it at sears and kmart where its $140 for shipping.

Samsung.

It's extremely YMMV, though. Only one store in BR had it and there was one left

Go to Sam's or Costco, and buy the least expensive Sony or Samsung that checks all your boxes.

But I think to keep it under $1000 you're going to have to drop down to the 50"-55" range.

That's what i was looking at spending a year ago and wanted a 60 or 65 inch.
Ended up with a 55" Sony. While it's a great tv, wish i would have just sucked it up and got the 65" Sony or Samsung.
I'm not a Vizio fan and if it's going in my living room it's going to be Sony or Samsung.

The better question (and the one I'm still debating) is, should we all wait on OLEDs to come down in price? It seems like OLED is the next big jump, whereas 4k is somewhat an incremental upgrade.

Or should we all just buy a 4k TV now and wait on OLED in 5+ years?

It's a tradeoff. You can probably get a 60" for under $1000, but it's going to be stripped down in features. Not a big deal to most people. 65" at that price is going to be more difficult, especially in the big name brands. Or you can stay under $1000 and get a 50" with lots of bells and whistles. 50" is plenty big enough for me, but everyone's mileage is different.

It's been over a year since I've priced TVs though, so that info may be way off base now.

Here is a Sony on Amazon that is 4k that you can get for around 1200. I'm sure you could find something cheaper if you looked. I highly suggest amazon, you can get the last year TV for much cheaper than the newest version.

This Sharp looks pretty nice, only $900 with Prime Shipping

Two different things.

4K HDR is the next big thing. We will have to see if OLED is the best option for it. Currently the knock on OLED is it doesn't get bright enough for HDR.

I have a Mohu to get all local channels. A third party tv tuner is an extra $75-$100. NFL and College football are the big ones I need the local channels for.

What are peoples issue with Vizio?

I have a 10 year old Vizio I bought when I was in high school and it still works great. I am not up to speed on them now but thought they were still a solid mid range brand?
