If your wife and/or girlfriend is NOT a tech savvy person who enjoys using apps and whatnot...it is not worth the headache of listening to them bitch about the effort and tech knowledge needed for them to watch a simple TV program. Pay Comcast or Cox the $200/month for one remote that they can talk into and gets them every channel imaginable with Wifi. And save yourself the headache. It's not worth the $40-50/month savings to listen to them gripe about it.

I just like not getting surprised by a bill wanting $300 for one month of service when I was promised my deal wasn’t a promotion. That happened twice.

i don't get this. Where is this "trouble" people speak of? You can cancel on the phone in like two seconds and sign up for youtube tv online in an instant... not doing it is the trouble.

That’s what I’m saying. Your wireless typically goes up if you cut off cable, then you have to pay minimum $25 on top of that for the streaming service that offer sports.....so basically your overall spending about the same.

Yeah cutting the cord is awesome bc there is no contract. You can cancel any of the subscriptions.

When I had Cox, I wanted to cut the cord. However, it was cheaper to bundle internet and cable then just having internet. It was around $110 with internet and basic cable package plus my subscriptions (Netflix, WWE Network, Amazon Prime) which makes it around $140 a month.
I've moved and my new apartment has cable included at $25 a month with Comcast and has a lot of channels in HD just no premium channels like HBO and Showtime. Internet is $85 and the same subscriptions as earlier, I'm paying around the same amount, but with a lot more channels due to my apartment's cable package.

What? YouTube TV has every sports channel besides the NFL network...plus local. I got in when the launched for $35...but now it is $40 month.
I pay $49.99 for 100 mbps of high speed from Spectrum...$35 for YouTube TV...then we have Netflix and Hulu...do the math, Hell a lot cheaper then cable.
Google YouTube TV and check out all the sport channels it has.

Hulu Live is pretty nice. 40 bucks a month and you get pretty much every channel you'll need, all live sports, all major networks, and local networks, as well as getting/keeping access to the classic Hulu streaming service/archives. You just need Internet and something to play it on. (4th gen or later Apple TV, computer, etc)
Can also select to get the add-ons for HBO, etc.

I don't like being tied to a contract agreement,
Unless something has changed, Cox agreements are just price agreements. You aren’t forced to stay in the contract.

I cut the cord 13 years ago and have never looked back. Just do it. You’ll be happier.

I'm contemplating cutting the cord, myself. One big cost savings will be getting rid of $50 in rented equipment each month for each TV. Also, bullshite "HD" service fees.
My promotional through Xfinity expired a couple of months ago. For their top internet in my area (300MB), 5 HD boxes, phone, and their best TV package, I'm paying nearly $350/mo. I am going to save a fricking bundle by cutting the cord.
That said, sure, if you only have 1 TV in your house or apartment, you probably won't save a ton of money. Different circumstances for different people.

You’re late to the party. I cut the cord and never looked back. Make sure you have good internet connection / speed. PS Vue. Hs antenna. Firestick is all you need

It’s $40 per month. It’s great for sports but if you are already paying $60 per month on internet, you’re not exactly saving money.
This, I'm already paying $80/month on wifi, and I'm ready to cut that too,. phone bill is $180/month already and comes with a 50gb hotspot that I'm paying for and never using. I just put my cable on a seasonal hold to see if 50 is enough, and if it is then charter can kiss my arse. I'm over them.

Don’t most subscriptions to streaming services only allow two logins? I always have millineals at work asking for my password.

Call your tv provider and tell their loyalty department that. They’ll magically find some promotions for you.
