Trying to read the fine print on this. Is it only if you register a new credit card with them or is it good if you already have the Costco citi card?
it applies to any purchase made with the Costco citi card.

Think of it like the extended warranty crap other stores try to sell you but it's free.

You watch anything with DV or 4K Blu Rays? Those should be blowing that old Samsung out the water, at least it does for me with my C9.

Yeah, I do see the difference there for sure. I still watch mostly cable, so I should’ve specified.

Random, but does anyone know how high the bottom of the tv sits when using the legs? My center channel speaker is 5.9” and I like the look of the tv sitting on the cabinet if it’s possible.

Which TV and at what size?

The legs can be different for different size TVs of the same model.

Oh okay. I have the 55", so I can't really help. I just mounted mine, but I would put the legs on the check if needed.

The cool thing about the 65" and 75" versions (unlike the 55") they give you two options to place the legs. On the ends or closer to the middle.

I was looking at 75" specs and I don't think this is going to provide exact clearance, but without the stand to with the stand it is exactly 3.5".

The legs I have for the 55" are small and flush. The specs say the difference (in height) with stand to no stand is 3".

It automatically adds 24months of additional warranty at the end of manufacturer warranty period

and Costco doubles the manufacturer warranty regardless.

Since tcl has a one year warranty Costco doubles it to 2 then adds 2 more if you use the Costco visa for a total of 4 years.

I had the manager show me the math to make sure I was getting 4 years when I checked out.

I love the OLED but after having it for nearly 3 years, I don't know if I see too much difference on most of the stuff I watch compared to my old Samsung HDTV.

I watch a ton of sports, and am terrified of burn in with an OLED. For that reason I'm leaning Samsung Q80 QLED.

Same thing people said about plasmas ~10 years ago and I've never had an issue with mine.

ETA: out of curiosity, I just checked my amazon history for this order of a Panasonic VIERA TC-P50G25 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV

ORDER PLACED
September 10, 2010
TOTAL
$999.99

Flat, no taxes and free shipping. I just paid $1299 plus tax for a 55" OLED. We'll see if it makes 10 yrs and 3 moves without skipping a beat.

i figure in 2020 most tvs will blank the screen if paused for an extended period of time and most sports chyrons disappear during commercials and generally morph and move around enough that shouldn't cause an issue either.

again, buy it at costco and if you get burn in within 4 years you can get it replaced no questions asked.

OLEDs, when new for at least the first 100 hours or so, are subject to "burn in" in the screen if there is static content on the screen for too long...channel logos, score boxes, tickers/scrolls, letterboxed content, etc. Burn in means that whatever was up there will be ghosted on the screen forever. So just know that if you get one you need to be super cautious for a while.

To the previous poster, yes, the plasmas back in the day had the same potential...but back then we didnt' have an option that performed almost as well without the risk of burn in. Now we do, and I value that piece of mind. The Samsung QLED lineup has been certified "burn in free"...so you can watch whatever the hell you want for as long as you want right out of the box.

You sure about that?

quote:

Costco has a 90-day return policy on TVs. It also offers two years of tech support. Most impressively, it automatically increases the manufacturer's warranty to two years. If you use its credit card, Costco will bump that up an additional two years. For reference, TVs typically come with one year parts and labor, or in some cases, one year for parts and 90 days for labor.

BJ's Wholesale has a 90-day return policy and a lifetime tech support line. It offers Protection Plus extended warranties through Asurion that don't cover "burned-in phosphor in cathode ray tubes or any other type of display." OLED TVs don't have phosphors, but it's a safe bet that bit of semantics won't fool anyone if you try to use the warranty.

Sam's Club has a 90-day return policy on TVs, a tech support line and it offers SquareTrade warranties that, like other SquareTrade warranties, do not cover burn-in.

Also, I believe many of the extended warranties are Squaretrade, which does NOT cover burn in. Granted, after 2 years you should be well outside the window for burn in even happening, but definitely worth confirming.

quote:

Are burn-ins covered under warranty?

Since burn-in occurs due to out of normal viewing conditions, it is not covered under warranty by most manufacturers, or by your SquareTrade protection plan.

I am not sure about others, but I did read that BestBuy's geek squad warranty does cover burn in. Just in case anyone is considering purchasing OLED.

I guess I'm missing the part about burn-in specifically. Does the warranty speak to it or anything that could be included as touching on burn in...for example anything that says they won't replace it for normal wear and tear or normal use? If so, that could apparently include burn in as that's what the square trade warranty considers burn in.

Has the tv come out yet? If so, has anyone seen it? How does it look?
