His stupidity on this board is often frustrating because I use macOS/Win10 about 50/50 and I think he makes really good points about some of the positive aspects of macOS, and then he blows it all up by acting like an idiotic fanboy the next moment an opportunity presents itself.

They don't advertise it but it's well known that if you download the upgrade tool and just go through with it, it will activate just fine on that Win7 license and you can fresh install Win10 from that Win7 license key in the future.
I know that but how many people getting this message have no clue you can do that?

Can you install Linux Mint on them?

You can buy a Windows 10 license on Kinguin for like $30 or something. I wouldn’t use those for some huge enterprise but a handful of computers is fine.

You can upgrade for free, so you're celebrating unnecessarily running insecure software... why?

I upgraded my mother's laptop from Windows 7 to 10 last weekend for free on a link from a cnet article. Worked fine.

So you are deliberately running insecure software that you could upgrade for free because other people don't know about it?
I'm being forced to upgrade to that windows 10 crap with all the sheep that willing bent over for.
And I don't appreciate it one bit...

Suit yourself, but when a virus or ransomware run through your office computers like the coronavirus, don't come crying to us.

I don't know what the legalities are, but the upgrade does work. I needed to upgrade around 15 machines recently and my interpretation was that the upgrade still works but it may not be in compliance.
My experience was that 13 upgrades went smoothly, but 2 complained that I needed a valid key. The two that weren't valid were non-OEM, so maybe that's the main factor. In my case I had extra licenses already so it wasn't a big deal.
I'm a Mac/Linux guy, but Windows 10 definitely is not crap.
