Screen had gone black and flashing light.

Took them 2 minutes to offer a complete product replacement.

Seems like there are known defects in the Apple TV 4Ks.

Have had tons of product support calls but never an offer of replacement for out of warranty product without even a troubleshoot.

Apple haters on this board are trying to come up with a way you’re getting screwed on this.

If you like Apple TV you should Try Google Fi, Pixel, YoutubeTv, or a Chromebook. they are better products even if they have nothing to do with being a streaming box.

Nah issues with AppleTV are incredibly rare period, but if you are seeing a flashing light, and unplugging it doesn’t resolve it, there isn’t a way to run diagnostics and the AppleTV 4K doesn’t have a way to attempt software repairs. With stores and many AASP facilities closed it’s just easier to send a replacement device.

Also I suspect they are being looser with CS codes while many stores are shut down for Customer experience, especially if your warranty ended after the March retail shutdown.

They have such a huge profit margin it's nothing for them to send you a new one.

You already paid for 3 or 4 when you bought the first one

I had one that kept rebooting nonstop. Sent it back. The one I have now works fine. But has issues with the hdmi connection every few weeks. Usually just have to unplug cable, and plug back in

Apple does good on old issues with their products. My wife had a 17 MBP that was several years out of warranty. Because there had been a know issue with some of the motherboards, they did a complete refurb on it. Only thing that remained from prior was the case and the hard drive

Anybody know when they will release a new one Apple TV? Seems like the current unit has been out for a long time now

What’s the benefit of releasing a new one? What will it support that a 4K one doesn’t?

Not sure (since it’s not released yet) but I never like to buy the “latest” gadget when a new one is about to be released. For one, the old one will be cheaper, and for two- there may be features added I would want.

I have one of the olds AppleTVs and can’t add apps, like Disney+. Which is absolutely ridiculous. But need a new one nonetheless
