It's not a deal breaker because that is all iOS users have. There is no alternative to the iPhone unless you choose the outdated model.

I had a 6S+ before this, I could of stuck with that for a bit longer. I went ahead an upgraded on my normal yearly schedule though, because it didn't bother me as much.

Pretty sure the Moto X4 is going to be my next phone when released, will be the only other Fi compatible option that is supposed to have a 3mm headphone jack, as well as sim slot if the leaks are spot on.

I've seen the rumors on that, but I am still holding out hope for a midrange phone in which updates are controlled by Google and not Motorola.

The Moto X4 sounds like a good replacement, but it will have to have all the bells and whistles that the Nexus had, and then some, in order to make it a formidable replacement. The Motorola G5+ left out USB-C, NFC, 802.11ac, and a decent camera, all of which can be found on the Nexus. Motorola also stuck to 2 Carrier aggregation while everyone else has already moved to 3CA support.

Especially after Google made such a point to mock Apple for removing it, I'm hoping this is just a rumor...

Wasn't it Samsung that openly mocked? I don't recall google being in on it.

The only time I use a headphone jack is when I'm using my phone for work...and I could easily buy a Bluetooth earpiece. So no.. not a deal breaker. I already have Bluetooth headphones for the gym and flying.

What does flying have to do with anything?

When I put my phone in airplane mode I just go back and turn my Bluetooth back on and it works even in airplane mode.

The issue is keeping the phone charged, if you're traveling all day and your port is tied up by headphones...or keeping BT headphones charged.

My BT headphones are good for about 20hrs

Also I have a small battery pack that I leave my phone connected to while waiting to board.

Yeah most BT earbuds should get you through a day of flying 99% of the time.

Most of my trips are well over 20 hours, I also enjoy my headphones more than the ones the airlines provide, and they can be plugged into in seat entertainment.

I do this at least once a month so it is an issue for me.

My dealbreakers are the massive problems that are plaguing the Pixel and 6P.

I was going to do a new round with Apple anyway, but the 6P debacle of recent months is troubling.

I didn't own a Pixel, but from the Android/Google boards I'm on it certainly sounded like the microphone issue was pretty big, which, combined with unit availability, left a lot of people really frustrated.

6Ps are going through a similar issue now with tons of people needing replacements that supply may not support

Bought a pair of Bluetooth headphones for the gym. Deadlifting without a phone in your front pocket is so much easier. Bent over rows without a cord constantly getting tangled makes things safer.

You can get decent pairs online for $30-40.

not everything is an android-apple flame war

I've owned 4 Android phones since my last iPhone and have been a Google loyalist for about 6 years
