I have the standard ATT modem/router and the range is complete shite. My house is under 2000 sq ft and I’m only getting signal on one half the house. Is there a router that’ll give me complete coverage or do I need a mini mesh system?
Thoughts on Unbiquiti amplifi instant?
Thanks folks

If you’re going to do it, do it right: Ubiquiti UniFi.
Cable as many of the AP’s as you can, mesh the rest.

I wish most people would stop recommended Ubiquiti APs to everyone on the tech board... Jfc people come on, not everyone has network cable run through their house or wants to run a cable from an outlet via POE adapter
This is coming from someone with 2 AC pros

I bought a house, it had no data runs... I ran cables to three locations. No POE adapters here.
You don’t HAVE to cable every AP - the meshing feature works quite well actually.. but, the performance is notably better if you do.
OP asked for a recommendation - I gave him one. Ubiquiti has a good system - cabled or not.

You will probably be more than satisfied with Google.

We have an Orbi setup and haven’t had any issues, similar initial issue you are having.

If you have Uverse, the cable boxes won't work w/ Google Mesh. I tried and had to return it. I think there's a way but you really have to know what you're doing.

If someone doesn't know what dns or backhaul is Ubiquiti is not really a great recommendation. Gotta know who your audience is...

I'm using Asus aimesh with wired nodes. I'm using an 88u for my main router and 2 68us for nodes. I'd like to say I love it.
I'd like to say that...
Asus has had monthly firmware updates forever and if anything messes up you have to factory reset everything.
A+ on concept.
F on execution.

I had Eatel with their router/ cable modem and wanted to install Google mesh.
I bought a $15 4 Port gigabit switch. Plugged the incoming ethernet in, the Google Puck in, and the Eatel Modem in.
My wife could still watch her cable and we just ignored the Eatel router's wifi
eta, soon after I switched to YTTV so the Eatel piece went away along with the switch.

I bought the Eero 3 pack from Best Buy. On sale right now for $199. It instantly solved wifi problems that I'd fought with for years.
Setup was extremely simple. But I have Cox internet, not sure how this works with ATT.

I've been running the Asus RT-AC66R for many years and never had a problem. Maybe unplugged it and let it reboot twice in all that time.
3,000 sq ft house with good coverage without mesh system or any type of extenders.
Couldn't be happier, really.
Was looking at upgrading to the 88 at some point.
Have you actually had problems, or is it simply a PITA keeping up with updates?
ETA: I have LUS Fiber.

I was going with ubiquiti but amazon wasn’t shipping right now and my cousin had a complete google mesh setup he said I could have since his new provider had their own mesh setup. 3 pods, excellent coverage throughout my house all the way to the back of my garage. One pod hard wired, the other two just powered. I’m going to stick with this setup.

These mesh networks cut your speed in half with every noid jump if they are not hard wired right? The newer Orbi is tri-band and claims it has a dedicated 3rd band for WiFi backhaul...does that solve that issue...anyone test it out?

Negative. I’m getting the same speed from each one.
