I pulled the trigger on the neato. The reviews on these products are astounding.

[quote]I have been doing a little research and it seems that the Neato XV-21 is a great deal at $259

Does anyone have experience with that particular model, or any other competitors in that price range?

The XV-21 has been sucking my hardwoods and carpet for over a year now and shes been doing an excellent job.

The price has dropped in the last couple months due to a newer model being out. I paid just over $400 for mine a little over a year ago.

It looks like there's a $30 rebate, too.

I have had my neato xv-21 for about a year and it does a great job cleaning, but at 8 months had issues with the dirt bin popping out constantly and they replaced that for free, but now just after a year the batteries are shot and that isn't covered so just dropped $50 on new batteries after a year.

If they offer a 3 year replacement warranty , I would purchase it. I bought the warranty for mine and fully expect that I will end up using it to replace the unit before 3 years based on how much it gets used.

It runs 3 days a week and my house is 3,250 sf, but it only runs downstairs, so about 1,600 sf of coverage.

One other note, I had to take it to a friends house to update the software because it has to plug in to a desktop. Apparently the usb ports on my laptops didn't have enough juice, not a big deal but just in case anyone has an issue trying to update the software on a laptop.

The Neato is incredible. The roomba is a joke and is like a pinball just going wherever.

go post that on the OT. There was around 6 or 7 of us that all ordered them within a day or two from one another. We ALL paid top dollar.

I'm looking forward to some opinions on the Dyson 360 Eye: LINK

High cost at first so it hopefully will go down after a year or so.

Been happy with our Roomba. It does run in random patterns, but it cleans well. I have a black lab that sheds horribly and i does a great job keeping the floors clean. No more clumps gathering around the baseboards.

Dyson is coming out with a robotic vacuum that's been 10 years in the making. They've been waiting till they basically perfected it to release it. It's called the 360 or something and it uses a camera to map out rooms and uses it to "see" objects and move around them. I love my Neato, but I'm probably being a Dyson to add to my collection.
