Anyone on the board share their plex servers, free or paid? I have completely cut the cord and until I can build a library I don't have a very good VOD source.

Tell me to kick rocks if this is something that isn't reasonable.

Thanks

There are a few on here that are more than willing to share their plex servers. I try and use them sparingly, to not be a dick.

Are you looking to build/populate your own or specifically looking just to stream from someone's server?

I think you have to pay to access them now.

Well when I get a good site to start my library I'm going to build my own, I'm currently converting my DVDs to digital. In the meantime I'd like to stream from someone else who's built their library. I'm willing to pay if that's a requirement. I've been looking for a site that people offer theirs but I haven't seen one.

I went that route initially years ago until my storage shite the bed. Then I started downloading them (torrents initially then more automated with media stack and usenet). Plex requires consumers to have a PlexPass if they want to download files from libraries that are shared with them.

No. Just between the house and the camp. What you can't see can't hurt me.

If you are willing to pay look into a streaming app like Stremio, Syncler or Kodi paired with a debrid service like Real Debrid or Torbox. The debid will also make it easy to fill up your server when it is up and running.

I can hook you up. What's your Plex username?

I'm on free plex and I can no longer stream from my server outside of my home. It was a recent change. Not sure if the subscription is required for the server or client but something to be aware of.

I thought you meant you have to pay to watch someone else's Plex server. Plex Pass is required for remote access now, but I think Jellyfin and Emby are still free

That's right. Remote access requires the host to have Plex Pass or the user needs Remote Watch Pass. That change happened maybe six months ago. I switched to Jellyfin for that reason.

If they ever start charging users to watch remote media, I'm definitely going to make the move.

Until then, I'm still sticking with Plex since I have lifetime Plex Pass

Paid plex server is supremely stupid FYI. If ya'll are doing that, you should stop asap.

I have been using PLEX since the fork from XBMC and bought a lifetime license for $75 in 2012. It has been the best value of any software I have ever paid for.

Jellyfin is still not at PLEXs level, and I picked up a similar deal on Emby years ago. Emby 's big advantage is better out of the box IPTV integration.

I run all 3 on my server, PLEX is still top dog even with all of the people bitching about various crap. I just turn off all of the things I don't like.

ETA: I just realized you are probably talking about paying for access to other people's servers instead of referring to PlexPass. I agree with that. Stremio/debrid would be better than that.

If anyone tries to charge you to access their plex server, tell them to go kick rocks

There are workarounds to this. I had a chrome extension at one point that would allow me to do it
